So, after about a month of getting money up, planning, and making sure we had everything we might need to fix my car if it broke down, we set off, on the 12 hour drive to MD, from Murfreesboro, TN. we left at about 5:30 friday morning.

the first few hours of the drive were very un-eventful. then, all of a sudden, my a/f gauge stops moving. as i watch, it leans out untill the car almost dies. pull off to the side of the road, pop the hood, and i see that all my wires from the ecu are touching the EGR tube. so, i pull them up off the EGR tube, and put a peice of foil i had under the wire harness to reflect some of the heat. start up the car, and she runs fine. off we go.

hour and a half later, same story. go and look under the hood, dont see anything weird. ran a keydance, got the normal 21, for my rear o2. reset the ecu, started the car, and it was fine. off we went. so it does it again. this time 30 mins out. i figure i know what it is... fuel pump craping out. so we pull off at an exit, and spend 30 mins changing it, and checking for other stuff. get going and she runs great.

were in VA for a few hours, and i see a maroon boniville coming up the onramp. i moved over, let him on, and got in front of him. we drive for 15 min. and all of a sudden i look back, and his front windshield lights up like the sun. lights flashing everywhere... i'm like fuck were getting pulled over. started to pull off, he whips out around me, gets past the truck i was following, pulls in in front of him, and kills his lights. i'm about to shit myself, caust i had just got done doing something i would have gotten in trouble for, and he probly got a great laugh. i can see him telling his buddy... hey lets scare the shit out of these stoners like in super troopers.

got through the rest hellhole known as virginia, finally, after a detour of 2 1/2 hours of driving to a wal-Mart, in BFE, that ended up being a "Magic Mart". This whole almost 3 hour side trip was to get a 12v power supply, for a dvd player, for bryans wife, who watched something on it for 30 minutes and turned off, never to use again.. stop and get some subway... meatball sub.. mmmm. or so i thought.
anyways we eat, and get back on the road.

all of a sudden, were going along and some guy, in a mustang GT decides he wants to play. but he is so retarted, he cant line up right to make a run. we will get side by side, and we try to go... and he just wont floor it. he waits untill we get about 5 cars up on him and slow down, and he stomps it and flys by. so enough of that crap, we let him go.

rest of the trip to Thoms was pretty boring, or i was sleeping i dunno. after 16 or 17 hours, we finally pull into Thoms place. Thom, who is an Offical Porch Monkey, comes down, we talk for a few mins, and then head inside. thom bryan and i bullshit for awhile, then head off to sleep. i'm sleeping for... an hour im guessing... then... on no whats that? fuck its that meatball sub... and its pissed.. so a quick run to the bathroom, and up came meatball sub. (Sorry Thom) that happened about 8 more times. i want to kick the ppl at subways ass. anyways, we get up the next morning, re-assemble Barney Purple, and, headed out. i wish we could have stayed longer thom, but we went to alex's and bought those seats, and decided just to head on home.

we drive that night untill we got to Woodstock VA, got a hotel and crashed out, thanks to me still being 1/2 sick. got up about 6:30, go back on the road. was smooth sailing. made it through VA just fine.

we got 5 miles inside TN, and my ignition coil went out. took bryan 2 hours driving around bristol to find an autoparts store with the right coil. got back on the road, and smooth sailing. finally i have all the bugs worked out of my car possible. we get 40 MILES from home. all of a sudden the a/f gauge stops moving. then she leans out and dies. we decide weve replaced coil, plugs, map sensor... i had a TB, with known good TPS and IAC in the car, so i said why not and put it on at a truck stop.got going, made it about 1/4 mile, and she died. i was so pissed, i kicked the front bumper. then i remembered, i had been in an accident, and i had a plastic front bumper now. oh shit to late.... now i have about 3/4 of a bumper left. im glad i have a spare.

i was so pissed at that point, that the car had craped out so much, we ended up calling AAA to tow her home. told us an hour for a wrecker. almost 2 hours of sitting 5 feet from traffic, and 1 foot from a ditch on the side of I40, Finally a wrecker. jesus can this get any worse. anyways, the wrecker driver, was cool as shit. we had a great talk about cars and shit it was very relaxing. hell he said he might come see me kick some V-8 ass at the drag strip, i showed him my car he was impressed. (even though it crapped out haha) I did however, drive my car into the driveway off the wrecker.

So, thats the story of getting barney purple. if anyone has a video camers, spare time, and money, we can turn it into a movie and make millions for 2gnt haha. Thanks for reading, i've got to fix my car now. (if anyone knows what might be wrong let me know. i put a new o2 sensor in it last night, and now its missing again. i'ma going to replace the last of the sensors, and wires and see if it helps. if not, anyone have any ideas?

** Current status: 9 bent valves. and it only had 6,000 miles on it. i hope the replacement goes well. **

Lots of expensive parts, and still slow! Oh wait, it has to run to go fast.

Glad you made it back safe.

Now taking orders for the "Official" 2gnt parts trailer/camper. Now when you break down you don't have to sleep in the car. Order now and be ready for the SO!

None of the wires were completly burned through on the insulation. only one was charred black on the insulation, and i wraped it in electrical tape. Update on the car: Its missing horrible. new wires made no improvement. it drives 1 block, starts missing. pulled the O2 off, after driggs suggestion, runs ok. plug the sensor back in. runs ok. wee finally i think to myself, just a loose plug. (though an O2 would not cause a misfire iirc) i go to the store... all good. leave the store, all good. car's warm. running good. i floor it. hit boost, pulls nice to redline, shift, and BOOM missing again. grrr... stoped pulled the o2 off, made it home. thinking i have a shitty injector now. time for the 450's! will update if good news happens.

if the injector dosent fix it im going to. TRYING to make another 10 second eclipse. its going to take me a few thousand more dollars, and a few more years, but i will be there eventually.

Edit: i try to carry EVERYTHING that might break, and tools to replace it on a road trip. im glad 2g's can hold so much shit. i had a mechanics tool set, jack stands, a floor jack, and parts all back there in the back. i almost brought a backup set of calipers with me too, im glad one of those didnt lock up haha.
