#31479, "Let's say you have $30k laying around... whatt car do you buy?"

New or used? What do you pick, and why?

I think for me it would be a new or very slightly used 350z, but I might have to consider a used g35 coupe as well. It would be nice to have a back seat so more than one passenger could ride with me.

What would you guys buy?

Evo 8? 03-ish STI? um... really if it was me i would be looking into a used Skyline. they have come down enough where you can buy an early 90's model in canada (or one tagged in the US if you wait on ebay long enough) with low miles in excelent shape. just my .02

** Current status: 9 bent valves. and it only had 6,000 miles on it. i hope the replacement goes well. **

Lots of expensive parts, and still slow! Oh wait, it has to run to go fast.

I would buy a reliable Honda Fit, and use the rest to pay off the mortgage.

If it has to be used on a car, an r32 gtr skyline. Use the rest to refresh and build the hell out of it.

If it all has to be used on the car, probably a used Lotus Motorsport Elise.

Edit: Why? Look at it, and you won't need to ask. Hot secks.

if i would have stayed in the states (and i had about the same amount to play with), i was going to get a g35...but since you got that amount, i'd hop on craigslist and see what's available. if you want luxury, then a c230 or 3 series bmw would be nice. if you want performance, then a sti or evo would be nice too. if you're looking to drop some money on something new, m3, m5, m6, z4 or z8 (not sure if they are still making them), g37 and something else along those lines...not really sure what your preference is...shhhh...i'm drunk.

Audi something, I like the g35 but here in hawaii throw a rock in any direction you hit a honda or a g35.

The more I learn about these cars I like that I can build up a 4 banger and spank a v8.

Plus my insurance is 320 for 6 months and thats on the GST. A EVO was like paying rent again. SHITTY

I never said it had to be used, if anyone was thinking that. Either way...

I'm not planning on buying anything soon, but have just been thinking about what my next car will probably be. It'll probably be at least 6 months until I buy anything though.

Hmm, that depends on what the car is for...

If I wanted ordinary, a Mazda3 with only the 2.0L (enough HP, better mileage) and a manual.

If I wanted extraordinary, a used EVO, old enough so it costs under $30K and leaves enough cash lying around to pay the super high insurance.

Or, a GS-T turbo in excellent condition, tons of mods, and plenty of money left over.

Now that i think of it, i would buy a dodge conquest if i could ever find one. Its a dsm, turbo rwd that looks badass. And (i think) had one of the first 4g63's. So there would be huge amounts of mods avalable.

Thank you mobil one for rust proofing my driveway.

it's a 2.6 SOHC turbo 4 cylinder and RWD. Plenty of people swap 4G63's in them though. Very nice cars. Hard to find clean ones though. I'd only get a clean one. I believe they are known for having injector problems

modded '03 cobra. They can be had in the 500 whp range for around $24k.

In all practical purposes, I wouldn't drop that much on a car, unless I had like $300k in the bank.

Either a used nissan skyline or a d-spec silvia (actual silvia, no conversion).

RWD turbo baller status ride. There would be no modifications due to all the money i'd spend on insurance and tires every month.

I'd buy a 1970 Pontiac Trans Am with a 455. OMG!!!!!!!!!! My dad had one when I was a baby. I don't remember it, but I've drooled over the pictures in our photo albums forever. Actually, $30,000 probably wouldn't be enough to get one. Ugh.

hmmmm, $30k...

typical answer, EVO or STi (most likely EVO)

buildup a car answer, make the eight six a mean little fucker for track and street use (wonder if I could RWD a 4g63 into it emoji ) and finish the Eclipse

crazy answer, build a Lotus 7 replica from the ground up with a tomei SR20 crate engine and 6 speed trans sitting in it emoji

Mmm emoji 30k lets see well since I'm ohio, and about 2hr ride to Norwalk. I'd put a down payment on a Buschur EVO from MEDINA Mitsubishi Dealer, on map quest its across from NORWALK.

I would never buy a 350z, Supra, or a Skyline. Everything is too damn expensive. If I where a Millionare had money to piss away, then yes I would buy one of each.

I was dreaming about having a DSM fully built, This would be f'n sweet check this out.

I would have the Transmission Built by John Shep, have the bottom block built by Buschur, top by MAGNUS, turbo kit by Hahn/buschur Tuned by Magnus/Bushcur. Hopefully the DSM would break the 8's for a FWD.
