#31161, "good places to look for cheap 2g"

autotrader is basically my only local resource right now, I haven't checked out cragislist yet, but my main problem is 2gs are ridiculously expensive in illinois. I hear all these stories about friends of guys here getting amazing deals, whereas I'm having trouble finding a running eclipse/talon for under 6k around here regardless of mileage..

just lookin for tips, need somethin cheap (lookin 3 grand or less would be awesome, but anything under 6 is better than what i've found). Last eclipse was totalled, fighting allstate to give me 3 grand for it emoji

Lol, wait till may. I will be selling my 2g. I have converted back to stock and only has 24k on the built engine in it. This thing is clean enough to eat off lol. I'll be selling it for about 5k. Super easy to do in Arkansas.

2 sets of injectors is better than 1 =)

Craigslist is your best bet. I always find some nice deals for 2GNT's here for around 2-3g's. Too bad I have no cash for another emoji

Bottom of the ocean! Free for the taking down there. Great place, highly recommend.

...is there such a thing as an expensive 2g anymore? They're hitting the ~10 year old mark. I mean, of the 1,200+ 2G DSMs on Autotrader right now, only 50 are above $10k. And those 50 people are way out of touch.

check my back yard, I have a 98 RS recently de-turboed with 8X K miles on it only asking 2ish+ shipping but it prolly wont come with the rims it has now. its an ATX thats due for a timing belt change. the ATX sucks, A604s are garbage in general. PM me/email me if interested.

its the slower one on the left

Bought mine on cragslist for $1500. I should have paid $800 for the car since everything on it was shot to shit.

Guy wanted 3.5k for this peice of shit that i've just about finished fixing 8 months later......

When you do find a car, dont settle for the asking price, ever. Make shit up if you can.

Tell them the headgasket is blown, tell them the ball joints need to be replaced and then bring a list of how much all that shit is going to cost to replace. Throw up things like "thermostat, oil pump, water pump, valve cover gasket, and timing belt too." If it's over 60k miles, ask when the timing belt was replaced. Ask when the transmission recieved new fluids last.

You can talk them down atleast a grand or more if you use dsm knowledge against them (the seller).

If you do indeed find basic maint slippage and the guy/girl says something like "well, i've got offers on the table", go somewhere else. They're trying to squeeze you into buying it.

However, very few people on dsm forums will try to go out of their way to fuck you over. Most will let you know exactly what's wrong with the car before you buy it.

Goodnight sweetheart...yes its time to go...bum bum bum bum bum...good night sweetheart yes I am one little a$$hole......bum bum bum bum....

I just sold my 97 talon with 118k miles on her for 2800. She was immaculate. I sold mine by putting it out beside the road.

Drive around rural areas and look in front yards...sounds dumb but I've found plenty of 1g cars that way.

I pretty much make a living buying 2g Eclipses and Talons with blown motors, and putting them back on the road with good motors. In Kansas City, they sell for $1000 all day long needing engines...

I sold mine on Craigslist fully loaded for $2,000 cash. Needed an interior and repaint of front bumper.
