#30530, "Talon got towed."

I was at a friends house last night for about two hours, as were leaving his house I notice right away the talon is not there. At first I thought "holy shit, stolen" but then I notice a paper with a warning on it about parking in an assisigned parking spot. So I go down to the office and start making noise asking were my car is, they gave me the number of the tow place and I had to pay 101 dollars to get it out. The warning says "IF WITHIN 24 HRS THIS VEHICLE is not removed it will be subject to towing." what are the chances of me getting my money back from management? Any tips on how I should go about this? I have the warning and the towing receipt with me and proof the car wasn't there for more then 2 hours. This is a very upscale condo on the beach in south florida so money is not an issue on there part but wondering how I should approach inorder to get my money back, I kinda need it for text books since classes start monday :/

Try talking with real management nicely (not the night guy). Simply show your receipts and proof of 2 hour stay. Mention that mistakes happen, no problem, if it makes it easier they can just take it off _________'s (whoever's house you visited) rent/fees and you'll get it from them.

Legitimately, your friend should step up because he/she has the power. They should go to management and discuss the situation of towing friends' cars that come over for a few hours.

If that doesn't work, it's starts to get ugly and you may have to go to small claims to get your measly little $100 back (I say that tongue in cheek. I know it may be a lot of money to you, but to them your kinda just a flea).

Of course this is all provided that somewhere in that long-ass piece of paper that your friend signed, it does not mention immediate removal for parking in an assigned space (or some kinda crap like that).

Shoe on the other foot. You come home and there's some car you don't know in your driveway/assigned parking spot. Sure, you could park in the street or a little farther away for that one night, but should you have to? It's an assigned parking space. You had no right to be there.

I highly doubt you get out of this. The tow truck was there. Someone has to pay for that tow. I can guarantee you the tow company won't eat it. So it's you, who parked in someone's assigned spot, or the complex who posted the signs that the spots are reserved.

A short walk could have saved you $100. Sucks.

Agreed. I dealt with something similar last week. Eat it and move on.

I completely understand that, and I would be upset too if someone was parked in my spot but I have been parking there for months since no one had that spot assigned, and all of a sudden I get towed within the 2 hours that I was there, the security guard could have apologized to him and valet his car and put a sticker on my car warning "if not moved within 24hrs. Or if parked in assigned area again it will be towed" like there suppose to do. Also, valet doesn’t park my car they just open the gate for me since I go there a lot so i was used to just waving, driving in and parking at that spot. I know Im most likely not going to get my money back, but I still think its fucked up there policies aren’t followed, if shit like that is gonna happen at least change the warning to "immediate towing if parked in unassigned spot" instead of "if not moved within 24hours subject to towing".. I don’t know I guess Im just pissed over my mistake and am trying to find someone to blame, Im still gonna try to get my money back tho! emoji
