You can say that again. Shit, working for GM, our 3 year, 36k mile warranty sucks. I make no fucking money on warranty conerns, especially the fact GM lowered warranty labor rates AGAIN. Not to mention, did you know they have extended warranties out too? Not many ppl even know about those. Yea, buy a new or used car, and the sales dept sells you a extended warranty so when your OE is up, you are still covered in some area's...yea, all those companies pay warranty time as well. Sucks, but hey, I love this field.
Congrats on you ASE's man. I took all my tests when I got out of school and passed them all but HVAC because I didnt have enough time to finish it. I signed up again for the fall testing, and passed it. I am 22, and am a ASE Master Tech. Not really a bragging point, I am just proud of it. I pushed myself hard enough to make it this far. I also have many GM cert's. Cool thing about working for the dealership is they pay for all GM training/testing, and they paid for all my ASE's when I took them. Turbo8u is right though, shops dont really care about ASE's...I got a whopping $1.00 raise when I got all mine, haha.
Anyway, congrats man, you should be proud of yourself, those tests arent the easiest ya know.
Edit, turbo8u, we arent mechanics, we are "technicians." -MIKE-
