well so far so good, we haven't been evacuated. The fire in escondido is starting to loom closer(we're just barely north of escondido, in san marcos).

Most all my family is safe, although i do have a real close friend with us now because he and his wife were evacuated. They live in hidden meadows which was evacuated due to the fallbrook fire.

im in long beach so we're not near the fires but we're still affected. my school mandated that recess be inside because a lot of kids with asthma are having breathing issues. we can easily smell it here and we have to keep the windows closed or ash gets everywhere.

my roommate had to go home to castaic/santa clarita because her both her parents homes were in danger of the fire. Her boyfriend is also a firefighter so she's stressin. i feel hella bad.

My car is full of ashes, I'm starting to have some throat pain, but besides that it's all good. What pisses me off the most is that we are missing one week of school, and the week after this I'm traveling to the east coast.

Hope every one else down here is doing well too.

^I'm in the center of the fires on this map. It was hard to go outside yesterday, and also pretty bad today too. It rains ash all day and smells like charcoal. Lots of people getting evacuated

I live at the beach but it doesn't mean any clean air at all, the Santa Ana winds blow everything around. The sky looked close to this not quite as bad (I think this pic must be of Malibu)

I'm just staying indoors. The PM10 was off the charts yesterday (real-time air pollution measurements for here in long beach)

Yeah I had to take the day off today, tape up all the doors and windows, and just sit next to an air cleaner. I'm good though. The ghetto's a long way from those nice expensive houses in the forests. Good luck Ez, SD, Kaiser and everyone else up there.

I was out in SoCal visiting about two or three years ago, so I am glad to hear everyone is ok.

Just be safe out there guys, if you have to run for the hills (oh, wait, the hills are on fire) ok if you have to run to wherever there ISN'T fire, then just get to safety, don't try to be too proud or a hero or anything. We need you guys in one piece.

Not weird at all. Socal burns every 8-15 years as the vegetation grows back. Its a natural weather pattern everyone local knows about called the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Ana_wind.

Just got a little extreme this year due to higher wind speeds and more fires at once.

^Yes, I think it's something we're somewhat familiar with. It was this time of season just a few years ago when my neighborhood in SB was burning down, and the Santa Ana winds were blowing so strongly that the flames were all horizontal. I remember looking across the street at one of the houses on fire, and it looked like a blow torch aimed at the house next door. So that house would catch fire, and then the one downwind would do so, and then the next. It was crazy

My girlfriend hightailed it out of Norhtridge yesterday. She said the general concern wasn't so much the fire as the smoke. She woke up three times wed. night with a bloody nose and decided, screw this shit.

Oh hi guys.

Damn, I saw this on the news. Scary shit. Well I mean it does happen often, just that when you click on google maps, like all these lil fire icons cover the whole map. emoji Hope everyone's ok. Good thing I'm not around, otherwise I would have gotten an asthma attack too.

Well, my newly cleaned engine bay, and powder coated VC are sprinkled with ash. I just filled her up yesterday, and got a quick carwash, but hadn't had time to clean under the hood. I guess when I come back from Philly, I'll be getting a new air filter. Oh and I just got some brand new wipers emoji

All is gewd, atleast in my side of the woods. My city is land locked, and one of our boundaries is the pacific, so everything around here would have to burn down, before we saw flames.

A 5.6 isn't a very big quake. We have small earthquakes hourly here. The news media probably didn't have anything better to do last night. When it's a 7.0 or better, then you can worry.
