So I have my car on autotrader, and I've had some back and forth emails with this potential buyer. I've been answering his emails with a grain of salt, since he seems to be an agent who is trying to buy a car for a third-party client.

Here is the latest email response:

************************************************************

Hello,
Thanks for your mail. I am very sorry for not getting back to you as expected, i was trying to conclude issue of payment with Mac Schneider my client. I am delighted to tell you that he appreciates and commends your vehicle, with full interest, he is willing to carry on with this transaction. I have finalized with him on the price of ($4,500) which is the last asking price for your vehicle and its ok by him, I have forwarded your vehicle information including your last mail to him for his proper records.
He also instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a US certified cashier check of ($12,500) which is a refund payment of a canceled earlier order made by my client because the vehicle has been in accident and this was not mentioned in course of the transaction .Due to company policy this check has to be made out in this amount to you,Because company policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier check. So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle ($4,500) and send the balance of($8,000)to the Agent ( our shipper ) for him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs.
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to my agent,he will then proceed with his mechanics for the inspection, pick up(of vehicle & signing of title papers), make some cosmetic touches and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer, while title papers and other necessary documents will be handed over to my agent at the time of pick up.
Please confirm this and forward the following informations;
NAME:.......
ADDRESS:.......
PHONE#:.......
For payment to be made and send to you as soon as possible.I decided to mail it now for urgent purpose. Thanks for your understanding and co-operation.
Below is my client information.
Maj.Mac Schneider
Email:major_macschneider@consultant.com
100 Queen Street West,
Suite B30 Toronto,
ON M5H 2N2.

****************************************************

I looked up the address, it's either a Sheraton hotel or this guy lives in the park.

Anyone run across anything like this yet? I feel like it's my duty to inform people if this is the newest try at scamming people.

One of my favorites. My all time favorite, is the twin turbo supra, or 93 tt rx7, ect, for about $3,200. The car is located in london for some reason. They need you to wire them the money, and theyll pay for the shipping from over seas also. Priceless.

Don't sell your car to 16 year olds...

total scam! That has been around for a long time... you should act as if you are interested in doing some kind of deal and tell him that since it is a large sum of money he is trying to cash, you want to talk to him over the phone. chances are he wont reply back. My father in law was almost scammed by someone saying that he won the brittish lottery. I LMAO at it.

That's good to know. Thank you for confirming the scam.

Basically I told him that it would be silly to send me the money when he could give his "agent" the money and have him come see me in person to finalize the transaction.

I haven't heard back from him and i hope that's the end of it.
