I never thought Id be one of the guys doing this, but I lately ive been thinking of Calling it good and moving on. Why?

Well first and foremost, im in the Los angeles, Ca area. YES CALIFORNIA.
That alone stops a lot of people. Im at the point where I'm trying to save a bit more, but most of all its the time and the occasional reliability ( the second coming about as a result of the first).

So I see 2 options here, maybe 3. Selling it as is ( doubt it), parting out, or detuning a bit or maybe as far as making it stock-ish...

I just don't know what to do.

I'm with Josh on moving out of SoCal. I hear Washington area is nice. The Rally scene is awsome. In fact we are going to be making a road trip this October to visit some friends, and maybe compare prices on homes and such.

Regarding my RS, I'm going to make it reliable, and stock appearing and drive it until it falls apart. No point is selling it as is, as you will only make roughly 3K at most. Parting it out is kind of an hassle. Just ask Jamesman, his super fabulous ride is still sitting in the garage.

Your just in a rut like we all get. Leave your car alone and just don't mess with it for about 2 or 3 months including cleaning. NO cleaning! Then take a day off during the week where noone will bother you and detail the crap out of it, including fluid changes and the regular mild tune up. Roll down the windows, turn off the radio, and pull out of the driveway listening to the engine and fall in love with it all over again. Might sound stupid, but thats what I did when I got burnt out. Made it feel like day 1 all over again cleaning that nasty pos. lol.

Noooo!!! You can't get rid of the Eclipse. Well technically you can do what ever you want to, but from a moral and ethical point of view it would be tragic, like a bus full of kids going into a ravine. You can always sit on the car and not do anything with it, but if we've learned anything from the history of 2GNT it's that, when a prominent vehicle from the community is sold, within 2 months the engine blows or the kid wrecks it. At that point you'll never see her again, short of in a Pick-N-Pull or shop that you work at. If you don't have room to store her there then I've got a spot in the backyard with Eclipse written all over it. I would need you to leave the keys so I could driv... I mean move it from time to time

Just remember, nobody likes your mods.
They may tear it down and recreate the same exact thing, but nobody likes the mods YOU did.

If you decide to sell, make sure you completely part it out, and put everything back to stock. Sometimes people will pass on it just hearing it was once modded.

Good luck whatever you decide. I just got to a point where the reliability shortcomings outweighed the amount of time I wanted to spend repairing them.

Let's all move. It's the culture/taxes/housing/traffic/pollution before you even consider car regulations.

I second (or is third now) returning it back to stock before you sell it. It scares away people that don't know much about cars, and that's most everyone. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I do miss the days when we had meets and everyone was doing new things. Wish everyone wouldn't give up but I completely understand. I just can't give up my car though. The sexy:costs-to-maintain ratio is too big. I know her inside and out, have done all the maintenance over the last 100k, and she's never been down for more than 3 days straight. Yea once I hit 3rd gear every minivan around can pass me by, but it's still the most hassle-free car I've ever owned. Plus nice 2g's finally stand out again in a sea of Z's, g35s, wrx's - everyone here has the exact same car and the exact same wheels.
