Well the Px I work in is having its grand opening today. The guest speaker is General Casey. The old commander in Iraq well lets just say I spoke my mind about iraq with him, having a Marine brother that was there and my housemate/fraternity brother is a officer in the airforce and is leaving in 2 months. Im sure ill get in trouble but it was worth it. I feel better.

oh i know but he at one point had the power to do something and didnt and thats sad.
once I was talking to my brother and morters landed fifty yards from him. I hear the boom my bro yell at his guys to "get your shit we are getting hit" then a bunch of people yelling some machine gun fire going off in the back ground. he gets back on the phone and says "so much for my day off. I have to go kill some people now. dont tell mom and ill call you later wish me luck."
three weeks later he called back comm black out because someone was hurt.
that is the day my view was changed. and ill talk to anyone who will listen and a few who will not.

I hope your brother a speedy return and he's in my thoughts. Difference beteen you and your brother is this is the norm to him. This is reality and this is what he knows. Its what he's trained for and I'm sure it's what he's good at. You wanna do him a big favor? Support him and don't contradict what he's doing. It'll go a long a way. Trust me. my brother is out now, turned down his reinlistment he spoke Arabic for the marines don’t get me wrong I support you guys you do a hell of a job. I tried to join out of high school but I blew out my ACL playing lacrosse. What I cant stand is there are v bottom vehicles that can save the entire crew ready to go and not being deployed. or not giving you guys body armor. shit like that
just 10 min ago I had a army Sgt in 3 days back from Iraq 3 months early from his deployment because they ran over an ied he was the only one left alive in his humv up armor my ass.

I had guys in my squad survive ieds. There are a lot of different types, but the 1114 and 45's will suffice against most. I would've love the v hull lm17's with the double mounted 50cal and grenade launncher without having the gunner expose, but infantry will make due with what is afforded to them. I feel the exact same way as you do when it comes to equipment. There were times when I wanna punch someone in the face because LM17's are driven inside the safety zone of Bagram Airbase while my platoon was taking a beating near the Paki border.
