I was leaving my fiancee's house last night a little after 12. While sitting behind a van, waiting for the light to turn green, I glanced at my rearview mirror and saw a car coming up behind me; seemed a little faster than it should have been. Looked back in front of me and the next thing I knew, I heard a crash and went forward a little bit before the seat belt pulled me back to the seat. Airbags didn't go off, so I figured it wasn't too bad. Stepped out of the car to assess the damage.
I saw his car first, a late 90's grand am. His front bumper was almost touching the firewall and smoke was pouring out of the engine bay. I looked at the back of my car and saw that the rear bumper was missing, it was right next to his car, and I couldn't see if there was further damage because of low visibility. Walked around to the front and saw a crack in the windshield and the front bumper was smashed. It caved in, puncturing the radiator and leaking fluid all over the street. The van in front of me wasn't too bad and the driver was fine.
Called the cops and the guy that hit me started to walk over. The guy was freaking out, crying because he knew his car wasn't shutting off even though he had taken the key out; he was possibly illegal as well. It was hard to understand him because he didn't speak English. The cops and paramedics showed up a few minutes later. I was strapped to a board and taken to the hospital because I had neck and back pain. My fiancee had come to take the stuff out of my car and said that the cops had the guy doing the tests to see how drunk he was and he almost face planted while trying to stand on one leg.
I got out of the hospital a couple of hours later with some sprained muscles, but I'll be fine. Just got off the phone with my insurance so now I get to rent a car while I wait for the G6 to get fixed, providing they don't total it. All in all, it could've been a lot worse than it was. I'll get pictures of the damage up as soon as I'm able to get to the place they towed the car to.

Sucks to hear about your luck man. Glad you are OK though. Like they always say: Cars can be replaced, lives can't.

More than anything, I'm glad that I wasn't able to move from the spot I was in before the guy hit me. That may sound weird to say, but had I been able to move, he would've hit the van with full force and there was a 5 year old girl inside.

Please don't say your G6 was a 2 door GTP manual. Cause if it was then I would have been pissed. Such a rare nice car being totaled would just be a shame. Glad to hear that you and the Van people are safe. Let us know what happens and I hope everything works out for you.
