#25135, "Just like a teen girl at the mall"

Hey guys,

I was recently over at the womens house the other day and we started to strike up a conversation about how each other spends our funds. It seems like every time she gets a dollar she runs out to the local mall and spends it. But after I thought about it im just as guilty, it seems like everytime I vist this site and dsmsource I can never help but email 50 million people about certain products they are selling in hopes of taking it off there hands.

My questions is, how do you guys manage to not go broke modding and fixing up your cars and how many of your guys have maxed out your credit cards just trying to get that last part in befor the end of the month? emoji

Thanks,
-Cody

For the past 3 months every paycheck has been something for the car, I wish I made more than 6.50 (Well 7.50 soon with a couple weeks of retro pay).

And I don't like to talk about my credit card.

lol I'm 19 and I work as a Pharmacist Technician at CVS.

It is really underpaid if you ask me considering what I have to deal with (Old people, Computers, Insurances, Insurance Problems, Drug Addicts, Entering in Prescriptions in the Computer, Reading Dr.'
s handwriting, and knowing SIG code (The code they use to write the dosage i.e. 1T PO QD translates to 1 tablet by mouth everyday), Having an overall idea of where everything is in the store, Old People...yes I know I typed old people twice.)

You start off at 6.50 as a PSA (Pharmacy Service Associate), do some bullshit training become certified as a Technician (Raised to 7.50) and then you can become Nationally Certified and get another raise but you have to take a huge test.

It's only CVS that has really shitty pay for that job title as I know someone who goes to the same school as me and is starting out at 9.25 at Target Pharmacy.

But I love it, just not the pay.

House payment, medical bills, and wedding.

In a month, the last two will be gone, so I'll have no excuse and will only be able to resort to spending money on the cougar, busa, and mustang.

Mortgage + newborn baby, lol.

If I dont have the cash, it doesnt get done to the car, plain and simple. I will not charge a dime for this thing. Thats why it has been sitting and awaiting to be finished for like 7 months now.

Same here. I could have had mods added to the Evo when I bought it and they would have rolled the cost into my payments. No thank you. I'm not paying interest on a modification that's just silly.

After buying the turbo kit for my 2gnt in 2001 I was going to go out w/ friends and checked my balance to find that I had $60 to my name. I was 19 and had a job but I had to borrow $ that night. After that night I decided I didn't want to live like that so I took a personal finance class over the summer (online class) and started managing my $ better.
Easily, one of the best decisions I ever made in my college years. I still have that book in my room. The only thing I wish I did definately was get a credit card at an earlier age to build my credit. My credit is great now, but I got the credit card when I was 23 and it's a bank credit card so I got approved because of the $ I have in the bank.

I gave up trying to care about this car.. it just gets me to point B.. most of the time. When your car is down for months on end (due to a mod you did) you'll find out what your priorities are really fast. I just want something I can drive every day and still have fun doing so. I have a lot of priorities in my life that rank well above that damn car.

mortgage + school loan payments + gas prices + 10 yr vehicle general maintnences = limited funds for performance parts.

It's to the point where i don't have to manage my money. I pay all my bills first and buy groceries ect. After that, theres not a lot of money to waist anyway lol.

I've been spending anywhere from $100-200 a month on my car. I'm spending $300 on some rebuild crap i need in about two weeks. Possibly more depending on what condition my valves and pistons are in.

As soon as i get that filthy whore up and running, i'm going out to find a second job just for her. She better be happy.

I make 18.75/hr at my job now but i'm helping my family out right now and they eat alot of damn food so most of my money is gone before i even see it. I resort to hiding funds so i have money for my car. I'd rather work myself to death and have everything now than play the waiting game. Oh how i hate waiting. It's like being told "just wait until x-mas".

Edit: Speaking of filthy whore, i had a check for $1,700 i recieved from selling stock to buy a car. (this is before i had my 2g) Lets just say i fell in love with the wrong girl and most of that money got spent on dates and whatnot. I'm still kicking my ass for that. I could have done ALOT to my car with that much money.
