Kinda cool...but I think it would be nice if they just used RFID.
This is why I say that.
Q: Are the door handles always active or unlocked?
A: No. The handles work with the keyless entry system. When the car is unlocked the handles are active. When the car is locked the system is deactivated.
Q: Do the doors open for anyone's touch or just a specified user?
The Magic Touch door handles are active to any human touch when the car is unlocked and the system is enabled. It functions like a regular door handle would, if the car is locked it will not open and if the car is unlocked the door will open.
I very recently looked into RFID (this week) and bid on 12V system on ebay that went for like 15 bucks...I bid $12..but the seller has more, besides I have no time to work on anything anyway. You could just keep the tag in your wallet...like I do for work, or as a key fob. Any it's about 400 bucks cheaper...LOL Of coarse I was just thinking of unlocking the doors...not popping them open too, but that would all be easy enough to include. I also thought it would be cool to eliminate the ignition key and just have a push button start. I basically got the idea from the latest Nissan Maxima commercials.

That is kinda neat. That reminds me of a podcast I saw from pauldotcom.com. It was an epsiode where they actually put an RFID chip in someones hand (no shit). Just think, you would have to worry about losing your keys then.
