#23902, "Look at what was delivered to my driveway today!!!"

As some of you know, the Talon was sold... yesterday actually (so Dino, I'm sorry that I was not able to get the pictures for the Front Hub replacement Wiki, but I will write one since I still remember how).

Anywho... "Black Betty" since she will be painted black.
1983 Regal
305ci V8 with Edlebrock carb and manifold. Headers, but not sure what kind.

I'm not sure if I want the 3.8L v6 and turbo it, or get a newer 350.
Interior needs work, but from what I've seen, no rust and only a couple of dings needing to be filled.

WOW! Get 350... Then Paxton... Then mild N2O Squirt! Some good potential in that one! Good luck with her!

So now at 44 what the hell do I do?

In case anybody was wondering, I have the headlight bezels in the car, I just need the amber piece for one of them... drivers side I believe, and all of the screws.

The vinyl top will be removed also. The Camero wheels need to leave and be replaced by some Buick Rally wheels.

ROFL.

And make sure you get two number 2's from the Home Decor section in Wal-Mart, and apply them to your fender.

...like some guy in my hometown with 22's did.

Probably cheaper than trying to get the Talon into the 10s.

Used 350... $100+
Parts existing on my engine will work on the 350 (or so I've been told)... Free!

Rear Locker/Posi/Limited Slip... unknown.

I will be getting a set of Eibach Lowering Springs for it seeing as the stock springs are shot, shocks are new, but springs suck.

Either way, I'll end up with a nice car with a possibly high resale value.

On a side note, the guy at work who bought my Talon, old guy, OLD guy. He was grinning the whole time driving it. He said that over the past day he's layed down several 11s on the road in it (no limited slip mind you!). He loves my old car. He thinks it can run low 15s/High 14s in the 1/4. I think he's wrong.

Regal beagle with the hinge grill, lol! Fuck it. Stroked 350 to a 383, parts are in extreme abundance. If you paint it black, people will think you're trying to build a fake grand national, but it will still look nice.

Who cares what other people think, I'm making it mine, granted the GN will be a great source of information, but I may make it gunmetal.

My plans... Blown 350, nuff said.

I was told at work my the maintenance manager and my boss along with the guy who bought my Talon that this thing does have a mild cam in it... I think a cylinder is dead.

I gave the maintenance manager the keys so he could try to do a power-stand because I told him that it would die right after... it did, but he was grinning the whole time, then he partially tuned my carb for me since I don't know how.

If anybody knows how to adjust one please let me know. It's a 600 or 650 Edelbrock.

Lol, way to hijack.

But that's pretty good, that's like, what, 300 USD? I don't know. The spoiler looks like the generic universal eBay spoiler you buy.

There's your problem right there. emoji I'd go with either a holly vacuum secondary or a double pumper at 650 CFM.

As far as it dying after a 'power stand', I assume you mean power breaking it? That's kind of normal on an automatic. Easiest way to find if you dropped a cylinder is to unplug each spark plug wire and see if the idle changes. If it does, plug it back in and move to the next one in line. If you find one that makes no difference, replace the plug and wire first. Simple shit I'm sure you've already thought about.

Edelbrock 600... WAYYYYY out of tune. The guy at Advance Auto adjusted it for me, both banks were 2 full turns past where they should be. Distributor was way out of time too, they adjusted that for me also. Great guys!

I'm going to check out a 350 tomorrow... $300, and I've heard that he may take the 305 as a trade! I don't know why, but even though I've heard that the 305's suck balls, they are very good motors. I was told today that if I get a 350, putting the 305 heads on there will give me a little extra something, I don't know how though, the 305 heads are not exactly the freeist flowing ones out there. Then again, I have a 305 that was pre-computers.

I was so disgusted that I could not even do a burnout in the rain in it that I hopped in the Trailblazer and just lit them up. I even powerbraked it when I got to work... Smokeshow! (I'm such a role model for being the supervisor huh?!).

EDIT: as for the dead cylinder, I got new plugs today and it livened her right up. Still sucks balls, but smoother. You should have seen the fouling on those plugs, maybe not, you'd cry.

Chevrolet basically took the same block block & crank and just bored it out:

305 - 3.74 in bore and 3.48 in stroke
350 - 4.00 in bore and 3.48 in stroke

Adding that extra bore made quite a bit of difference in the motor. All parts are interchangeable, but the 350 heads should flow better. Main thing would be valve size, combustion chamber size, and port flow. If the heads are of the same cast, then it probably won't matter.

Ford did the opposite with the windsor motor: 289, 302, and 351 (mild exception on the 351, though). All three have the 4" bore, but ford slowly increased stroke, thus making it each like a stroker of the previous motor.

The 289 had a stroke of 2.87", 302 was stroked to 3", and the 351 was stroked to 3.5". On the 351, the block had a taller deck height to support the longer stroke. Almost all major parts are interchangeable (heads, cam, intake, etc), except the 351 requires a wider intake for the longer deck.

Probably more information than you wanted, but emoji

get your hands on an LT1 out of a vette and do a painless wiring install with fuel injection. You know what on second thought i will see you a 383 B-block mopar carb to pan. 950cfm double pumped, 509 lift cam and bored 30 out. produces about 425 Chp. You want a 4 speed to match it...no problem. hell I even got an 8 3/4 rear end and the entire drivetrain has been rebuilt.

25,000. It will even come with a car to drive it home....lol

Congrats. Welcome to the ranks of real low end grunt and horsepower.

Thanks Terry!

I'm looking at a built 350, same manifold and carb as I have, but it has a mild cam in it. Bored .030 over. The engine itself $300, engine plus a rebuild Turbo 350 trans with a shift kit... $400.

The guy is thinking about it with trading the 305 + some cash.
