Finally signed up with Skydive Chitcago. I go up June 10th. Been wanting to do this since i was 18 but always put it off.

Prices have come down a lot. I remember pricing it 10 years ago and it was close to 300.00 now its only 200. Not bad.

My luck, I will land in cow shit, face first!

That's awesome, except you'll be strapped to another guy! I've been twice, but my next jump will be solo.

I've got too many things on 'the list'.

Terry, I've been thinking about skydiving for the last few years now. I would prefer to get certified and jump solo my first time. It's a 5 hour class, but each time you want to jump after the first it's ALOT less expensive. If your jumping tandem then you have to pay that same amount every time. I would look into them offering a certification class so you can jump solo and not have some guy strapped onto your backside, even though we all know that is why you are doing it!

You know comming home from Chicago I've always seen the sign for the exit and wondered how much it would cost to do that skydiving. I've always wanted to skydive and now I might have to look further into it here soon. Tell me how it goes Terry and I hope you have a blast.

Ok to get certified, skydive chicago has a program that involves 18 jumps and one 5 hour class. You enter the program and tandem 7 times, take the 5 hour class and jump the rest while learning. you have a training manual that must get signed off as you complete it. if the book is signed off by the 18th jump then the 18th is free. After that you must jump another 5 jumps for the USPA ‘A’ license.

The 18 jumps if paid up front is 2000.00. you can pay jump by jump but the cost is higher.

If i really enjoy this then i may very well sign up for all 18.

Terry

That seems wack. I've done 2 tandem jumps, have them on record with the log books. Now I need the class (I remember them saying 8 hrs, but maybe it was 5) and I can jump solo. Seven tandem jumps seems like too much to me.

That's a shit ton more money than you need to spend to get certified. http://www.indianaskydivingacademy.com/ From what I remember (didn't really look at the site again I was going to do it last summer. You take a few hour course, take a low altitude solo jump. Then in succession you take increasingly higher jumps. You only have to take a few, not 18, then your certified and can jump for only minimal cost. It's the same certification you can get anywhere, just easier to obtain. With that certification it's cheaper to jump anywhere.
