They decided not to play it in any imax theatres over in the northwest, too graphic apparently. I had to settle for a shitty, non-digital theatre. I'm thinking its worth the 9 hour drive to sacramento....hmm

So nice i've seen it thrice. Saw the midnight digital theater showing opening night. Saw it again at 9:00 opening night with my friends drunk as piss. Drove up to nashville on sunday and watched it in Imax with one of my friends up there (dave41079).

I saw it in the Imax at Opry Mills last night. It was a really, really good movie. It sticks to the history of the event very well. I want to go see it again.

It actually does not follow the historical event closely at all.

I'm going to pass on the movie, but I like how it has gotten the Iranians all upset. Hollywood has declared WAR on us Iranians! You try to humiliate us, slander us! bla bla bla more outrage etc. etc.

It seemed to me like it did. Granted there were some extremeties, but all in all it followed the actual story pretty closely. There were 300 spartans along with probably 5-6000 others. It didn't really show the full number of arcadians, thespians, other greeks in the movie. A great storm took did take place and took out a lot of the persian ships. The famous "Persians, come and get them" line of course. They held the persians off for two days before being "showered" with arrows, which archaeologists have remains of those arrows they've found. Other than the glamour of the picture, I think it followed pretty closely. I don't know if ephialtes was really deformed or whatever, but it included him as well and his betrayl to Sparta. I doubt what happened to his wife was true, but it did help the movie. Bribing the ephora's was true and the corneian festival or whatever was true.

You have to remember that most of the story is based on what Herodotus said. And I think it was pretty close as far as the main events, plus a little (by little I mean a lot) of effects for movie-goers.

Good movie. Not the best I have ever seen, but it was certainly worth the admission cost. The story telling aspect of it was covered with the elephants being larger than life and the human deformities, so you know it wasn't supposed to be true to life anyway.

If you haven't seen it, have a free night and a couple extra bucks burning a hole in your pocket then it is certainly worth it.

I braved a suckfest of a hail storm to go see it, worth the near death spin out on Rt.40 to see it. very cinematic, very original, I loved the long brutal scenes..... it screams "Frank Miller had something to do with this", and its perfect.

titties and glorious decapitations / dismemberments , how can you not love this flick?

It stuck to the graphic novel well, but it's an exaggerated story.

But I enjoyed it. Boobs were nice.
