That's right, I may be coming back to the community as an owner. I'm seriously considering parting ways with the GTP in favor of another 2GNT. Granted, a 2GNT is nowhere near as powerful as my GTP, but when I sat down and thought about it, I don't care much about the power because I prefer turns. Handling means much more to me than all out speed and it's an area the GTP is lacking in. Sure, I can drop about $1200 into the GTP's suspension and hope for the best, but I think it'd be a smarter move financially for me to go back to a 2GNT since I know how well it can handle based on my experience with my former Eclipse.
At any rate, I'm keeping an eye out for a 98-99 GS in my area and will hopefully be back in action here in a couple of months. This time around, the Eclipse will be purpose built for Solo II (auto-x) and will handle the daily driver duties until I graduate FGCU in December.

Well I want a 2GB cause I don't want to have to worry about switching body panels up and whatnot. That's not as big a concern as price though. The only low mileage 2GB GSX's I can find around here are going for more than I'm willing to pay. As it stands right now, I can pretty much get rid of the GTP and pick up a 99 GS for little to no added investment on my part. I also want to do to this NT what I never did to my other one. I realize it probably sounds like I'm being nit-picky, but I think this would work out best for me.

i understand the money thing at all, but at the same time I couldn't see myself buying another NT DSM. As much as I loved my car and everything, i know that if it was a GST/GSX, I would have never even gotten rid of it. If I were to get another DSM I feel like I would do it right this time and just get a GSX like I should have tried to do originally. I dunno, just my thoughts on it.
A 99 GS would still be nice though. Good luck finding a nice one!

I was in a similar situation when I hit a deer with my 99 RS. I could have gone GST or GSX for more money, but I am not in the best financial situation as it stands and I do know more about the 420a than the 4G63 so that was another good point in swaying my decision.
Glad to see your making a comeback injen!

A GST/X would be nice, but an NT will be fine for what I want it to do. I don't need the power, just the handling. I won't seriously consider going back to one unless I can find one that meets my expectations. I'm about 60/40 in favor of an NT right now since I am just starting to look for one.
Back when I was about to sell my original NT, I was looking for a GSX because I wanted the power. However, I've realized that's not too important for me right now. Maybe once I graduate college, get settled down with my fiancee, and can afford to have one as a track only car, I'll go that route. But for now, the handling of an NT will more than suffice.

ive mopped up the awd's in handling many times. the powertrain orientation doesnt mean that much, awd just has more control. One time in socal we had a dsmtuners, 2gnt meet...and after ghetto blasting everyone through the canyon they all swore I was AWD... until I pointed out the rear drums
I disagree. Having the drive wheels the same as the turning wheels limits traction by a lot.

Hey Greg! v v v
It would be nice to see you in a DSM again, brotha. Keep it clean, step up to some nice 17s with sticky rubber on 'em, a set of quality coil overs (talk to Thura or Greg), some simple brake upgrades, and keep us posted. We'll want pictures and all the details of your build and racing progress during the season for sure.

thats if youre powering through a turn, which I dont do anyway...I dive in quick, brake hard and power OUT not THROUGH. Its how you drive a FWD car with power and bomb brakes.
The suspension design, and tire coefficient of friction, determine more how a car handles, not its drivetrain orientation. Saying an AWD car handles better than any fwd car is nonsense. Go through ANY twisties with a wrx behind you, even NON turbo ive laid it out for them. most people here can agree because theyve been there, lol.
For example, the mopar srt4 pulls over a g on a 200ft skipad, thats right up there with Muellers "supercar" gsx. the advantage is control with awd, not always better handling or traction.
and oh, the man behind the wheel has the most to do with it...lol

I heard that srt-4s handle like crap. I think my WRX handles better than my 2gnt ever thought of handling stock for stock. In fact my RS isnt even in the same ball park. and on a side note I still love 2gnt's and want my old car back.
