#12820, "$11k-ish to spend on a car. What would you get?"

I have around $11,000 to spend on a new car. Maybe has high as $12,000- What would you get?

I've been pondering the 3G Eclipse V6 ('01, 02', or '03). Autotrader has yielded results in my price range w/ as little as 45 - 60k miles.

Anyone have or know anything about the 3G Eclipse or would you spend your money elsewhere? If so, on what?

My mom got an '06 Stratus with the 2.4 for $13K straight off the dealer lot. I'm sure you can get an '04-'05 around $10K. Car has got some balls for a 4 cyl, plus good gas mileage.

Have her roll something with a vintage feel that still fits in among the SUV crowd. Stylish, powerful, actually capable of going off-road, and more than able to tow your DSM when needed.

Furthermore, as you can see, they hold their value too.

The wagoneer is cool, my brother had one, fuckin harry and the hendersons style.

I wouldn't spend it all. I'd buy a car that's 3-5 years old for around $8k and stash the rest.

Hell, I'm picking up a 2000 Yukon XL C2500 this weekend for $9k.

There's a guy in Phoenix looking to sell a fully prepped Group 2 Festiva rally car right now. Can't find the link to it, but here's all kinds of fun toys for you to look into...

As for the woody, I went out looking for them online last night, after having passed a mint black one on the way home from work. You can buy them with full documentation and low miles for up to $30k. I would LOVE to have an old Wagoneer like that. 360ci V8, 4WD, metal body panels? Sign me up.
