I'm looking for a new guitar, a nice six string, metal axe... I was looking at the Mark Morton signature, but it is about $2,600cdn so I was thinking I would step it down a notch and get a Soloist SL2HT, about $1,900 instead.
Neck through body, ebony fretboard, Seymour Duncan JB TB4 bridge pick up, nothin else but the '59 on the neck, string through body adjustable fixed bridge (the only way I will ever have a guitar), mother of pearl fret inlays and so on
But that is some serious coin and the guitar shop doesn't really keep a guitar of that caliber laying around. Anybody here have any experience with a guitar like that or , failing that, those pickups? Will it get me that thrash sound?

I have never really cared much for Jackson guitars. They don't age well for one thing, and they just overall have a cheap feel to me. There are better options for that kind of money. Gibson and Dean have some really sweet stuff coming out at the moment. Check these out I think they're badass.
There is also an Explorer model like the SG above. I'd also think about PRS,and ESP (These have a better feel than a Jackson to me). Just play a bunch of guitars even stuff you don't think you'd like. When I picked up my explorer it just felt "RIGHT" you know. It had been about 8 years since I had played anything but my Les Paul and I didn't really know what I wanted.... until I pick up that beast. Now you can't pry it out of my hands.
Good luck, remember that the hunt is half the fun!!
Oh, you don't like altezza's? Too bad, your gonna get a good look at mine.

check out http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ the nailbomb, warpig, mule are very nice pickups. I prefer the sound of the nailbomb myself. I have a JB and it's a very good pickup but the bare knuckles have way more bite and grit than duncans will ever have while keeping it clear.

Because Nailbomb kicks ass.

I can definitely play, but I am tired of my seven string and want to trade it for something else, and I wanted it to be something pimp to play in my house with a cheaper imported guitar to bring when I finally do play a live show... might step down a Jackson Dinky and get those bare knuckle pickups, holy fuck they sound awesome!
I'm just trying to avoid the really common brands... everybody and their dog plays Ibanez, PRS or Gibson..

Check out schecter guitars...Some of the best made shit ever imo. My c-1 elite feels and sounds better than a lot of higher end guitars and it's got just the JB in the bridge and a duncan Jazz in the neck position and yes Nailbomb pickups are God's gift to the six strang.

I love my B.C.Rich, they have guitars from cheap to expensive. I also have an Ibanez, which still rocks! I did have Kelly for about a year. Looked great, but I never like Jackson necks. Too thin, imo.
