#11154, "Got a nice treat on Sunday..."

Well my uncle was in town this weekend from Colorado for fathers day. Some of you might remember him from when I posted the pic of him with his buddies Ferrari F40 LM-1 racecar that he got to drive around. Here's a pic for those of you that didn't see...

Anyway, he gave me the liberty of taking his 99 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (300hp AWD 6cyl, 0-60 in 4.9 I believe) out for a joyride...let me tell you the joy and exhiliration of the driving that car was supreme. I've never driving anything of that caliber in my entire life so I was nervous, and excited all at the same time...and needless to say he was sure to let me know that I was the first person he's ever let drive it.

I now know what its like to drive a car with an 'actual' clutch. This thing had some serious pedal pressure...and when you shifted gears, it was smooth as butter. It literally felt like waving your arm/hand in the air.

After driving that, I kept asking myself...why am I tinkering around with this 4 banger?

Nice! You're tinkering around with this four-banger because tinkering around with a 911 Carerra 4 is probably four times as expensive as a Neon engine. Clutch? $1500+. Intake? $500+...

You get the idea... emoji

Yeah you nailed that one dead on hehe.

It was funny when he saw my car and I told him all I had done...and he said, "not bad for a tuner car" LOL.

Originially he was going to buy a Ferrari, but his financial advisor told him to hold off and evaluate other options I guess. I think he just settled for the Carrera 4...which IMO is still freaking badass.

My old boss used to have a 911 and we get them traded in every now and then. Great handling cars and definately fast. To much $ IMO for a company that makes all of their cars look the same. Even the SUV looks the same. No passion for the designer for Porsche (except for the Carrera GT)

I know what you mean man, driving high end cars is just a totally different experience than just a fast car. Nothing else can compare.

That's just German engineering for you. Function Priority to Form. Opposite of American cars (I.E. Mustangs with fake scoops & brake coolers, and FWD cars with wings).
