#11096, "Decisions, decisions... next car"

I can't decide at all what I want... a 99-00 Honda Civic SI or buy R34's Eclipse thats for sale. I would love to own another DSM, but I can't put down $3500 for a rebuilt titled, 11 year old Eclipse when I bought my car with a clean title for $2000. My heart tells me to be in another 2GNT, but my brain is telling me to find something a little more reliable. Now, I don't have the money to afford a Civic SI right away without a loan, but I have the money to buy another 2GNT.

Now, most are probably saying, "hell, buy something you can afford." But, I'm ignorant & I know what I want. Either R34's Eclipse (someone tell him to lower the price & I'll buy it, lol) or a 1999-2000 Honda Civic SI. Someone guide me into my next move.

I too felt the need for a reliable daily driver I wouldn't have to worry about and bought a low mileage 98 Civic hatch about 6 months ago, and it is a great feeling being able to just get in it and drive and not ever having to worry about it, peace of mind I wasn't used to with my 2G. It's a great car but it's boring...real boring, granted it's not an SI. Getting in my 2G for a drive is a passionate experience, random CELs, wierd noises making me worry about every little thing, choking other motorists at red lights because my valve seals are shot, and it's still hand's down the one I like driving more. The Honda is like an average looking house wife who is always there for you, the 2G is a sexy chick you date who has mental problems, that's been my experience with the two. But if money is tight you need to think about what you need more than what you want.

One option is to buy a 91 civic and then buy the car you want. Those things are amazing. It's a great thing to lose a quart of oil every 3000 miles and just not give a shit at all.

Agreed, except I would personally get a 92-95 EG body style. I wouldn't waste the $ on an SI. They are nothing special and for the $ you could have a lot of better cars. Honda's are expensive in general. If you want a fun car that is still reliable you could always get an older NA MR2 or a 240 IMO. On a side note, if you don't have that much $ to spend, I suggest saving up some $. Good luck w/ the decision.

The SI is faster and more reliable than a 2gnt but dosent look as good as a 2gnt. If you want a car that can perform and still be resonably reliable get the honda if all you care about is looks get another 2gnt.
