That's gotta be frustrating, at first I thought it was about to run off the side of the track.

I would hope not. If they are slicks and still can't keep that thing under control it'd be a total waste of power.

It is on slicks. The track was not prepped well, if at all. Those runs are from the friday night before the NOPI event in St Louis 2 weekends ago. They had clutch problems and ended up not competing in the actual event.

I'm confused. They put all that time and money to make that car fast and then couldn't even find a decent track to take it to? And then managed to break it before competing? Nice...

How is it their fault that the track is poorly prepped. It is a 1000 hp drag car built as a showcase by that shop. They took it to the NOPI event to show it off. What do you expect them to do? Keep it in their garage until the perfect event comes along? They are trying to maximize their exposure to the public. Being at every NOPI show does that for them.

Also, please note: 1,000 hp. Shit breaks. It's not possible to keep 1,000 hp running like a Camry.

It's running again shitheads.

From the AMS guys this morning:

"we went to the track last night for some test passes before this weekends event.

aaaand we broke our record 9.23@160"

Old record was 9.41 and they're still having traction issues. The Mitsu/Subaru SO is this weekend at Norwalk, everyone is expecting 8's from the AMS car.

Looks like it is time for AMS to do a custom AWD tub job on the EVO to throw some fatter slicks under the wheel wells. That has got to be a rush through when that car hooks up in 4th gear and finally takes off. emoji

They went 9.17@162 this weekend at the DSM/EVO vs Subaru deal at Norwalk. That was their first pass off the trailer, second was 9.99@something and it bent a valve during the run. Buschur's shop car ran a BUNCH of mid 9's, big Al went 9.7@150, Curt Brown went 9.6@14x before he spun ANOTHER rod bearing (rememeber the SO last year?). Fastest subaru was in the 11's...

That's pretty sad. What's worse about the local Subaru's here is, a couple of them are running 12-13's w/ DOGBOX'S! Waste of $ IMO.

wouldnt really agree with that, in general. 1000hp for a 2 liter is a brutal pounding, but 1000hp for a Veyron is nothing, it might as well be idling.

They have no idea how the Veyron is gonna hold up in terms of reliability of keeping 1,000 hp on the road. Also, the car costs 5 million dollars to build, so comparing it to any other car on the road really is an exercise in futility. It's like comparing an FA-18 to a Cessna.

(Yes, the Veyron costs $5 million to build and sells for less than half of that. The car was built only as an engineering showcase by Volkswagen to prove that "the impossible" could be done.)
