#10302, "pretty smooth paypal scam"

So, I get an e-mail from service@paypal.com, but it does not say service@paypal.com. It just says...paypal. I click and go into it, and man is this thing smooth. The sender is right on. It's service@paypal.com. It's usually something dumb like servicee@paypal.com, with an extra "e". Anyways, just posting this up to alert you guys if you ever get it.

Below you can see what it appears like in your inbox. Note the real paypal sender from the fake.

Below you can see the link in your e-mail and where it actually links to.

I would notify Paypal of it asap. I'm sure they would like to know about something like that.

what you have to look for on these things is where the links take you, always check to make sure that what the link says it is, and what pops up on the bottom of your window when the mouse is hovering over the link jive.

Paypal will always put your name in the e-mail not "Dear PayPal Member". Just send it to spoof@paypal.com

i got that one before. just forward it to the paypal authorities. they're pretty good about following up. paypal clearly states that any correspondence from them will ALWAYS include your full name (not "dear paypal user").
