Ok, so I'm looking to get a notebook for college. Anyways, here's the chat session. This is a REAL chat. It has been modified for easier reading, but all the context is correct and accurate.

11:56:26 AMSystemWelcome Brian Kelley ...
11:56:26 AMSystemConnecting to server. Please wait...
11:56:26 AMSystemThank you for using Dell Chat, a representative will be with you soon.
11:56:26 AMSystemInitial Question/Comment: I am thinking about buying a Dell Insprion E1505. Which option allows me to add another memory chip later? 2 DIMM or 1 DIMM?
11:59:09 AMSystemYou are now being connected to an agent. Thank you for using Dell Chat
11:59:10 AMSystemConnected with CU_Rep_Christoper_G

11:59:54 AM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Hi Brian. Yes.
12:00:29 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G BTW, are you trying to configure the E1505?
12:00:36 PM You Yes.
12:00:43 PM You Sorry about that.
12:01:11 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Oh ok.Will you also use this for digital photos, downloading music & burning CD's, watching DVD's, video editing, games?
12:01:36 PM You Uh, yea some of that.
12:02:15 PM You I just want to know which one has more memory slots.
12:02:23 PM You If such a thing exists.
12:02:23 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok. Also how long do you intend to use this computer?
12:02:39 PM You Through college...
12:03:28 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok. BTW, Would you like my recommendations to make sure you'd be getting the right product?
12:04:33 PM You No, I just want to know what the board from Dell comes stock with. 2 slots, 1 slot etceteras.
12:04:42 PM You RAM slots that is.
12:05:15 PM You So I can add memory later.
12:05:54 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok. How bout our E1505 that costs before at $1,118 and now at $894 also it has a free CD/ DVD burner included on the package. would you like to get it's link Sheri?
12:06:39 PM You This isn't a real person, is it?
12:07:01 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G No I'm a person you're talking to Brian.
12:07:18 PM You Well, I find it odd that you can't answer my question. I don't need recommendations, sir.
12:07:25 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G So would you like me to give you the link?
12:07:57 PM You I just want to know what the "board" comes stock from the factory with (memory slots).
12:08:25 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok for the E1505 there's an option on the page on which you can able to upgrade your memory card up to 2GB, so no worries on upgrading it after the purchase.
12:09:20 PM You Well, I plan on doing it in the future. Not really at the time of pruchase.
12:09:26 PM You Purchase*.
12:09:41 PM You Which is why I'm trying to be certain of what I'm buying.
12:09:46 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok you can have it upgrade.
12:09:50 PM You I don't want to buy a computer that only has 1 slot for memory.
12:10:15 PM You So do all the 1505's come with a certain "number" of slots?
12:10:35 PM You Usually 1 or 2.
12:10:43 PM You Sometimes 3.
12:11:35 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok one moment please.
12:11:51 PM You Thanks.
12:14:19 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok it has 2 slots for the memory card. also 1 dimm means 1 card, if there's an indication on the configuration page that has 2 Dimms it has 2 cards on it.
12:14:57 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G So So would there be anything else I may help you with regarding this concern?
12:15:00 PM You Awesome. So the 512 1 DIMM will have another slot free? Is that right?
12:15:17 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Yes it is. By the way are you going to use your Dell Preferred Account on this purchase?
12:15:40 PM You Uh. Don't think so, Chris.
12:15:47 PM You But thanks.
12:15:50 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G OK but i strongly recommend you to purchase this online today cause our promotions might change in past few days also we don't have proper information for promotional changes due to no prior notice and i don't want you to miss this opportunity. emoji
12:15:58 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G So Is there anything else i may assists you with?
12:16:40 PM You Just one more clarification.
12:16:48 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok go ahead please.
12:16:49 PM You All the 1505's have two memory slots.
12:17:01 PM You So I don't have to worry again.
12:17:06 PM You Is that correct?
12:17:46 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Yes they all have 2 slots so i suggest if you're going to buy a system must choose the 1 dimm option.
12:18:02 PM You Ok.
12:18:12 PM You I was going to get the 512 1 DIMM and expand later.
12:18:14 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G No problem. Is there anything else I may help you with regarding this concern?
12:18:26 PM You But I didn't want to if it only had one RAM slot.
12:18:28 PM You Nope.
12:18:32 PM You Thanks, Chris.
12:18:38 PM You For "representing" Dell.
12:19:05 PM CU_Rep_Christoper_G Ok. it has 2 so no worries on upgrading it. Thank you for contacting Dell Sales Chat. Have a great day. Bye

12:19:09 PMSystemCU_Rep_Christoper_G has left this session!
12:19:09 PMSystemThe session has ended!

Yea, it was so gay. Waiting for a response forever and it doesn't even pertain to the question.

I got another rep because I had another question. As soon as she strayed, I exited.

Lol.

Are you getting the base system or are you getting extra stuff?

I have a code that is good for $300 off orders of $999 or more that is good through 6/1 - 6/8.

I recently bought the dell e1505

i have:
Dual core 1.8ghz processor
x1400 256mb gfx card
2gb DDR2
80gb hard drive
tv tuner / remote
win xp media center edition
ultra high gloss screen 15.4inch wide screen
bluetooth/wifi
9 cell battery

this machine also has a card reader which is lovely, the bluetooth rocks so i can not pay to receive photos from my camera phone (wirelessly) that i just ordered today
(http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1454620&CatId=0)

dell can be confusing, but when we did it, we called them and did it on the phone to ensure this was correct... my friend matt found a coupon online that if u spend $2,000 you get $750 off.

we called them and they said it was a valid coupon. So matt and i both bought the exact same e1505 for $2,026 using the $750 off, with tax on the end it came to $1355

any other questions before u guys order just ask, considering i have this laptop already. Also i highly recommend the 9 cell battery... 6 hour battery life when u turn the brightness on the screen down.

Edit: Coupons good for 4,000 uses.

Well, I don't need all that. The processor is sufficient and I think it's dumb to get all that memory when in a couple of years there will be bigger chips at a cheaper cost.

My unit will be a little under $1000 with the $300 off.

dude soup that thing up to the $2000 mark. getting a $2000 laptop for $1300 is an AWESOME deal. it'll prolly be a lot better than what you've got picked out right now and you'd only be spending an extra $300...
