people keep saying there ride sits higher or lower with certain size wheels. why is this? i thought that after the tire was put on all wheel would be the same height

Height difference is minimal...but still to the owner of the car noticable. My roomate swears my car dosen't sit any higher or lower from having 18's, 17's, and then 16's....but I can tell a difference.

Most people typically pick tire sizes that are comparable to stock simply so that the speedo and tach are the same. I've gone from 16s to 18s and now back to 17s. My ride height has changed (theoretically) by .2" each time. Your tires wear that much, so it's completely unnoticeable. However, you can choose tires that aren't as closely matched as mine have been and change your ride height by an inch or more, but the greater the diff, the greater your speedo, tach, and odometer are off by.
EDIT: "tire sizes that are comparable to stock" -> I mean tire sizes that make the wheel/tire combo close to the same outer diameter as the stock wheel/tire combo.

When I went from my 14's to my 17" GSX rims my ride height definitely changed. I put the wheels and tires on the drivers side first and whent I set the car back down on the ground you could tell that there was a height difference between the two sides. I think it raised the car atleast .5". I welcomed the height though, I finally stopped scrapping my front all over the place.
