Guys, forgive me if I sound ignorant and stupid (what's new) but I do not know much about coilovers. I know that you can use them to compress the coil to make your car lower. I was wondering if you could use them to make your car higher. I want to stiffen up the back of my car so that it does not rock when I get on it. I figure making the back of the car stiff will help with that. I already have my tokico's as stiff as they can go and it is not stiff enough. Let me know if coilovers will work for my application. Thanks guys.

Coilovers don't really compress anything. They just adjust the height of the spring perch (where the bottom of the spring rests on). This changes the height of the car. Most coilovers will end up being at stock height or slightly heigher than stock at the highest setting depending on the combination of coilover and shock. Most coilovers require you to knock off the existing spring perch on the shock, so once you do it, you can't go back to conventional springs. To answer your question, coilovers should work for what you want to do.

The spring perch is the part that the spring rests on. It is the metal part of the shock that looks like a ring that sticks out, and you just knock it off of the shock or grind it down depending on the shock. You don't cut the spring at all, it's part of the shock.

If stiffness is what you desire, SKUNK2 makes a drag launch coilover set. They are recommended for off road use. A buddy of mine has them on his honda drag car. You will not move with these. That is the stiffest you will find. The regular SKUNK2 coilovers are pretty stiff, but you will have to keep them all the way raised for the effect that you want. I guess the choice is yours. By the way, I have the SKUNK2's and I wouldn't trade them for anything!
