is it true that if you use wheels that are 17" or more that it can throw off your speedometer? why is this? im planning on getting these wheels:

in 17x7 and i wanted to verify this. is there a way to fix this problem?

also, are Yokohamas good tires? i found these same wheels on another site that came coupled with Yokohama tires.

Not really. U make up for it with the tires that u put on them. As long as u get the recommended tires, ur speedo won't be that off. Go to www.tires.com. They have info about plus sizing ur rims, and what tire size should go with it.

Just pay attention the the overall diameter of the tire and you should be fine. The stock 205/55/16's have an overall diamter of 24.9" according to tirerack.com. Try to stay close to that number and you should be fine. For instance the 225/40/18 I run have an overall diameter of 25.1". Close enough to the stock dimension.

Yep, you have to get a shorter sidewall tire when getting larger diameter wheels. Essentially, you want to keep the stock outer diameter of the tire, with the new rim/tire you get. So basically, you won't get rid of any unsightly fender gap, it should stay the same if you are going for stock accuracy. I believe my stock 14" wheels had a 55 height tire, and now my 17" wheels have a 45 hight tire, and the speedo seems to be about right on..

I have yokohama YK420's on my car and like them. good traction and really good on wet pavement. They've been on 3 months and still look new treadwise. I paid $440 balanced and mounting included so check that package price, might be cheaper to buy separate.
