Aiight, I got my front and rear GST swaybars in the mail yesterday, I read the service manual on how to install and I've got a few questions:
1-Is the front GST SB bigger than the front RS SB? 2-(Assuming the GST is bigger than the RS) would the install of the front SB make any noticeable difference in handling? Worth the time and effort? 3-Can the install be done with a floor jack and jack stands? The instructions said that the front tires need to be at least 1 foot off the ground, is this accurate?
In regards to the rear control arm install, in the Chilton manual it says that you must lower the car before tightening the bolts on either end of the control arm.
4-Is this necessary or can the bolts be tightened before the car is lowered? I don't see how I could fit my arm and torque wrench under there to tighten appropriately.

Aiight, I read Corbin's write up on doing the rear SB, and I guess the weight of the car does need to be on the knuckles, SOOO since I don't want to use blocks of wood like Corbin did, can I just put the wheels back on and lower the rear of the car on ramps? That should give me enough room to wiggle under the car and tighten those dang bolts right?

Yeah....that would work also. I'm not sure if the GST front bar will feel any different from our stock one or not? I just added the GST rear one and it helped with body roll alot and keep the tail end tight when cornering hard.....the rear is well worth it. I do know that you want the bars to be fairl close to each other in diameter or else you get over and understeering problems. RMDSM's site has a good explanation of sway bars.

1-Is the front GST SB bigger than the front RS SB? Yes the GST/TSi bar is 19mm and the RS bar is 16mm.
2-(Assuming the GST is bigger than the RS) would the install of the front SB make any noticeable difference in handling? Worth the time and effort? Yes you will notice more understeer. The by stiffening the front the front tires will loose grip faster. Also your front will roll less, which I good I guess since all the guts of the car is in the front.
3-Can the install be done with a floor jack and jack stands? The instructions said that the front tires need to be at least 1 foot off the ground, is this accurate? Haha those instructions. I didn't get them. They said some crap about putting the car on blocks and stuff. I just used a jack and jack stands to move the arm up so I could get the swaybar in there fine. Oh yes the front sway bar is a bitch to put in, more reason not to change it. I cross threaded the bolts that were holding it. Had to take the downpipe and stuff out also. Soooo annoying. Better get some energy suspension swaybar mounts while your at it!
To me upgrading the front bar isn't worth it because you gain more understeer. Makes U turns harder But I guess it's fine if you have a thicker rear back but the GST sway bar is so puny though its just going to be understeer mania. In autox you try to get the thickest rear bar you can get and some even go so far as to take the front sway bar. Depends on what you like more, understeer or oversteer
