Man I'm not sure what you did. Do you have the springs on the right sides(front to back). Did you reuse the bump stop? Cross-check to make sure you have the right struts. Maybe you got the wrong ones and the perch is too high? Are all of them sticking up like that? I'm just kind of poking around here. Take some pics of the spring/strut assembly.

Shit is all apart. Typical...

It sounds like "when cars attack" shows. First the hood and now your finger. I think it's time to pay some ransom. Did you get her fixed/figured out yet?

assuming they gave you the correct set of struts...

looks like you placed the rear struts in the front. the rear strut piston shaft is typically thinner than the front as well as longer.

Double check this and see. if not then the dealer supplied you with the incorrect for your application.

yeah i know what you probably did, you probably forgot to put the washer on that goes under the strut tower plate. that washer is the only thing that holds the strut rod under the strut plate. i did that once too but my hood was open when i lowered the car back down. yeah and when i did it once, my finger got caught between the lower fork and the cv boot, so basically the entire resistance force of that corner of the car was pinned on my finger, and the edge of the fork is sharp. my friend was sitting next to me as i did it, and i yelled out louder than i ever have...so he cant get my finger out and after about 30 of the longest seconds, i gave up, and i was just sitting there in pain, like what the fuck am i gonna do. finally i got it out.

yeah ive had some problems to say the least, i got washers from the hardware store for mine too...but mine were on top. basically when i got my car back after the fire, there were no washers on the top of the strut plate. so what that means is if i had hit a bump fast enough to allow the front suspension to completely depress, the assembly could have fallen out of the car (or out of the hole at least) that would have been an unbelievably nasty accident

Uhh what washer are you talking about? I'm worried now...I'm missing the washer that goes under the nut in this picture (under the part where you would use vice grip pliers to lock onto when trying to take it apart).

Is that what you are talking about? I do have the 3 nuts that go on the strut tower, but am just missing that washer that goes under this center part (the washer that comes with the shocks when you buy em). Do I need that? It's been this way for over 6 months now.

dude the washer is on there in the picture. so, if thats not your pic and you dont have that washer on your car you may wanna check into getting one of them. they cost like 7 cents from ace hardware so go get a pair of them, cause all you got holding the nut above the strut plate is the rubber bumpstop, and when i had that on my car, the nut got forced through the rubber hole and the rubber things popped off into the engine bay leaving nothing above the strut plate but the piston and nut (which, by the way, will fit through the strut plate hole if you get enough air for that to happen) like i was describing earlier

Oh ok, I get it now. I think you are talking about the big washer (that is much larger than the nut right?). I am talking about the small washer that is the exact same size of the nut (and goes right under it). It goes in between the nut and the large metal disk you see in the picture. I don't really need that one right? Thanks.

yeah fuck it you dont need that, as long as youve got something solid above and below the strut plate on both sides to prevent the nut from falling out the top and prevent the bumpstop from being shoved up through the bottom

These posts are the exact reason I will NEVER EVER EVER do my own suspension work. Its just not worth the risk to me/my car. Fuck getting my finger broken. I am perfectly happy with my unbroken fingers. =\

well i didnt break any fingers, a little pain never hurt anyone (well, nevermind) im not a female...anyway, i taught myself just by takin git apart over and over and trying different heights and setups. (probably done the front 30 times, i did it 15 times over the course of one weekend) i can do the whole car in under an hour now...if that sounds nice to you (ie no tpaying a shop $200 to install and align a suspension) then do it yourself. you think these shops know any more about your suspension than you do right now? theyre reading from a shop manual, youre reading detailed posts from people who have done this shit and know it like the back of their hand. choice is yours
