Sorry if this is a question that is asked a lot i dont hang out in the suspension forum. i tried a search on "strut" and it gave me things that dont have anything to do with struts.

ok now to the question. my car turned 6 recently and it rides like shit. i can feel every bump in the road. how can you tell if your struts are blown? if i have to get some, i was looking at tokico. someone posted a link where they were like $200. i was researching the kyb agx on the forum and people said the ones for the front were built for the galant and arent good. so, should they be replaced and what kind? ill probably do it myself with the aid of my trusy chiltons. and probably lower it at the same time maybe with eibach pro kits. are tokico and eibach a good combination? thanks

Lift up your car, let go, if it bounces they are blown, if it settles quick than they are ok. Thats one way.

i used both for my spring install, and didnt have many problems

yeah its really easy. i would have never attempted it on my own but a friend of mine knew how to do it. i took it over to his place and honestly ended up doing most of the work. i am sure you could do it with the help of 2gnt...(i.e. if im around when youre doing it then just im me and ill help you...others will probably feel the same...trust me its really easy.) as far as the combo...i bought used (settled/broken in) eibach sportlines and tokico blues and they seem awesome to me. i have no ride problems, theyre comfy, and my car handles incredibly well. just get an alignment when youre done and do the $15 camber mod while youre in there (another eeeeasy mod...takes no time...fixes bigtime)

Struts are easy to do. All you need is a spring compressor (rent from autozone for free) and a few sockets. You just remove the whole thing from the car, compress the spring replace the strut, and do the opposite to install it. I did all four on my car with nothing but the spare tire jack in about 45 minutes. Stock struts are pretty much shot between 60-70000 miles. I didn't replace mine until 77,000, and I ruined two tires because of it. If your car vibrates on the highway really bad, that can be another sign of bad struts. Don't take it to a dealership or garage to have it done, they will rape you. good luck.

Dont pay someone to put on your struts. I paid 150 bucks to have my struts and springs on, and I watched the whole time thinking "thats all you have to do" Just have a little patience and use some common sense, it shouldnt take you longer than a half a day. Just hose it all down with liquid wrench and let it soak for 15 minutes or so before you start.

my car just rolled over to 68,000. i havent gone out to the parking lot to check and see if it bounces yet

you can check visually if they've blown. look under with a flash light and see if it looks wet any where around the part where the rod goes down. if not they're not leakin. but you said they fell really bumpy. that's usually a sign of worn struts.
