please list any advantages & disadvantages of one or the other. i'm looking to get rims very soon, within the next month, and am debating between 17" or 18" rims. i will be dropped on tokico illuminas and the eibach pro-kit. i was set on 17"s, but the rims i want have many spokes, and those type of rims don't end up looking as big as 17" rims with less spokes. let me know guys, and could you post pics of your setups (whether 17" or 18"). these are the rims i'm looking to get (in gunmetal):

i'd have to say get 18's if you can 1. afford it and the tires and 2.make sure they aren't too heavy of rims you don't want them to slow you down.

i would get 18s tho if i had the money, same kinda OZ rims, just 18s.

18's will hurt you in launching, unless you're making mad power. If you think about it, rims are like flywheels. You are basically 'elongating' your gear ratios, the bigger rim you choose. 18's are awesome for handling though (corners, etc...). Another bad thing is the cost for tires. I'd say go for 17's, they have the best balance in terms of looks, cost, and performance. Whatever you choose though, I'm sure it'll look WAY WAY better than stock rims.

yea.. you can feel the struggle when launching when you have 18's on... i have them.. can't complain though considering the price i paid for them.

thanks for the input guys! i've decided to go with 17" X 8.0"s. question though, the offset is 35mm. i called tirerack.com and they said that it's fine; it'll be flush. question though, have any of you purchased any rims with a 35mm offset? i checked the dsm wheel/tire fitment guide, and it said i would have to roll up the fender flange. any of you guys know what this means? have any of you done it?

Sure do...

Go out to your car and check out the rear fender. Put your hand on the underneath of it. Feel that sharp edge within the 1 inch INSIDE lip? Well, some genius at DSM decided to have it there. You have to take some long straight object and use it as a pivot to bend up or roll in those inside fenders.

It'll put a nice little "knife" mark on your rear tire(s) when you hit bumps if you don't do this. (don't ask me how I know about this with my own 7.0" rims!
