#5799, "cant get an alignment..."

I recently put on sportlines and i brought my car to msome alignment shops. They couldnt get it up the ramp so i took my bumper off and went back. They got it up the ramp, but said that my car is too low to get any readings/measurements. Anyone ever hear of that?? my toe is all f'd up, camber is bad. i just wanted them to adjust the toe and tell me the degrees of camber fix that i need. I dont know what to do...

Those shops suck. I had sportlines and never had problems with theshops doing mine. Go somewhere else and see what they say. Or do what I am doing, get a pro kit.

You need a shop that can do it on lowered cars. Don't know but you might wanna ask ppl in your area. Most everyone in socal can get an alignment somewhere. If not, at least see if someone can do a visual alignment using a tape measure to at least make sure the wheels point straight forward.

Are there special machines that can do lowered cars? Seems like no one I know here in socal has been unable to get an alignment. On Hondas, some alignment shops even bend the control arm for you to fix camber problems.

It is a different kind of alignment tool that they use...It has lower sensors or something. I took mine to 2-3 different places until I found a performance shop to do it, and I found out they install N2O and do machining too, so now I'm happy emoji The guy did have to spend 30 mins trying to get it on the ramp still, because of how our bumper curves down in the front by the wheels.

tell them to place 2" thick boards on the ramp, and before the ramp, so you can drive up it. should very vaguely allow them to atleast get it visually aligned for you so that you wont wear ur tires down.

i feel your pain, i had to take my car to 9 different shops here in orlando before i found a place that would do it. I have H&R stage 3 springs 2in drop in the front and 1.75 in the rear. Alot of places are really skeptical about doing it cause they like to be able to get it back to spec but in reality no matter what you can not get a lowered car back to perfect spec just doesnt happen. so let them know you know that and usually they will help. also try and find a place that worx on sports cars like vettes and porches, those cars are generally very low and places that can do those types of cars generally can do ours.

welcome to the world of alignment, the bane of my existence... try getting an alignment for a lowered car here in boston, its next to impossible. I installed Eibach pro-kit springs, very mild drop. Don't even think about going to midas, meineke or any of those other chains. the 'technicians' there are idiots and only suceeded in scratching my rims. I finally found a specialty alignment shop, which did lowered cars. But the were charging $175!!!!! WTF??!! So what else could i do but tell them to go ahead. The guy calls me up and tells me my rear left toe adjust is frozen, freaking bullsh*t. So i have a lowered car that can't be aligned, tearng the @ss out of my new tires. I end up putting the suspension back to stock. Try getting it aligned again, now they tell me my wheel base is off and the frame is bent, WTF???!!!! and since the Eclipses have no camber adjust in the front, I just ended up trading the car in.

the only thing i always do is make sure the allignment shop has a pit. And for the people going to look for a new shop just make sure you get a camber kit in hand before you go. This way all the shop has to do is install and adjust. The pits are usually used for specialty vehicles(mobilhomes and buses and shit like that).late mike

Like he said, call the shops first and see if they have an alignment pit or bay. Alignment shops with racks don't do it. Just hang out with your local "rice" club and ask them where they go (if they go at all... lol)

I had the same problem up here. Everyplace i went couldn't do an alignment on lowered cars. I didn't know what i was going to do. So as a last resort i gave the Mitsu dealer a call(I just hate them seeing aftermarket stuff). Can you believe they said they could do it. He was like, yeah we just did one lowered over 2 inches last week.

you cant be too low to get a reading/measurement. they just want to give you a hard time. I was lowered almost 3 inches and they aligned my car no prob at big 10 tires.

Driving in orlando with lowered car is a bitch. I got sportlines and tokico blues...I'm wondering how long those shocks will last with all these road constructions and pot holes.

Anyways, I also got ingals and for some reason the rears still have negative camber. I know the factory specs is -1, but it looks worse than that. Does the height of the spring/shock change as you ride on it? Is it difficult to adjust the rear toes adjustment?
