You don't HAVE to but it makes it easier than having the spring shoot the nut and your wrench across the garage!

no you dont. what i did was wrap the whole thing in a thin blanket and lay it down and unscrew the top nut through the blanket, so i was screwing a little piece of the blanket as well as the nut inside. when it popped the blanket contained it all. The rear ones will barely even pop, its just the front ones.

I got banned for being a constant tard.
