#5355, "? purple people eaters"

yo, so i buy sum "intrax" lowerin springs from a guy on partstrader.

they are purple colored, have small rust lines on em, and two of them are shorter and fatter than the other 2.

are intrax usually purple, i heard they were blue.
should i worry bout the rust?
and which ones should i stick on the front and back.

is there any special tool i need for the install?? i read up on corbins install page (good sh*t) and basically came up w/vice grip plyers, torque wrench, socket set, hex wrenches, and sum liquid wrench, jak/stands, etc.....
is that all i am gunna need?

gracias,and tia

I have intrax, they are purple. The thicker ones goes to the front. You might need some spring compressor but is not necessary.

You WILL need a compressor when you take the stock springs off the struts. Don't let anyone tell you different. There IS pressure. If you're gonna chance it, make sure your NOT close to your car.

I took 'em off without spring compressors. it's easy. it's getting them back on that's hard.

Do it exactly as described on vfaq.com's strut/coilover install, and you'll be just fine.

i used no spring compressor at all. easy as pie to take off, and since i installed lowering springs the new ones were already short enough that i didnt need compressors. i dunno about coilovers. like in th vfaq, when taking the old ones off just use your body weight and thats plenty

I took the strut totally off the car also, but didn't need a spring compressor. I just took the whole unit and wedged it between the wall of my garage and my donut. If you do this, make sure you put the top toward the wall and slowly unscrew it. I had my brother stand on the donut so that way the tire gave a little, but not so much as to fire the donut out into the street.}>
