I couldn't help but notice how TINY my tires are now on these new rims. I feel like I almost couldnt tell if I had a flat or not! What are some things I need to watch out for, or how to prevent tires from shredding, or even bending my rims up? I hope these don't sound like dumb questions, but these are the first rims I have owned like this with almost no tire, lol.

TIA

potholes, potheads, rocks, speed bumps, curbs, pebbles, potholes, potholes, potholes

see a trend???

most tires have rim protection, meaning when you get a flat, it protects the rim from getting chewed up...in terms of flats, when the car starts 2 pull in one direction you have low pressure, check and adjust accordingly...and you'll know when you have a flat...

you got the rims and tires from discount tire right? get their warrenty\protection plan, it is well worth it, i've never had to replace a tire, but i hear with the plan they do it for free...i get all of my leaks, rotations done for free through them and i don't have the protection plan

Yea, when i got my rims, I was really paranoid too.

For me, i did alot of dodging and weaving. Avoid potholes and anything that looks like a small curbs. On local and unfamiliar roads, drive slow enough so you can adjust.

On this one road i wasn't familiar with, i was going 60 when i came up on a series of 4 potholes... i couldn't switch lanes because i was blocked in.. and i almost cried. But luckily no damage was done.

After a month or so, i just go used to the feel of the bumps on the road, and you start to know what you can take and what you should avoid.

But i'm still on stock suspension.. so i guess that's helping to absorb alot of the brute force.

check tire pressure on trips that are going to be more than 40 minutes

to monitor if theres a puncture on tires so u wont lose pressure on the freeway or blow for dat matter

also

if you ever do get a flat pull over right away or u will burn the steel belts on da inside of the rim if u keep going on the flat and you cant save the tire anymore

i went through hell with my rims 18x7.5 225/35/18 ill never go low profiles ever again

Being that we have he exact same config (except I got a couple more spokes) I can say from experience, CAREFULL PARALELL PARKING! You hit that curb and kiss that rim goodby. It sticks out way farther than the sidewall of the tire. Also, be carefull passing on the right. If your not 100% sure there is enough room, DON'T DO IT! Its all obvious stuff, just be paranoid... $1200 paranoid!

Mikey- nice rims! sorry to hear about your car getting jacked. I nearly cried when i saw the pic of your sunroof. hope things work out.

my advice is to not buy CHEAP tires if you roll on low profiles. I've had 3 blow outs already because of cheap sidewalls on no name tires. not fun when it happens on the freeway. you'll feel a hard pull to one direction if you do blow out- so when that happens: PULL THE F*** OVER. i finally settled on Yokohamas and had lots of luck with them. that warranty at Discount tire is also very helpful.

hope you and your car recovers from the beat down. welcome to club 17! (or are those 18s?):7

Where would one go for something like this....

I got driven off the road (kinda) by some fucker in a F-150.. I rubbed the curb for like a split second. I have very minor 'curbing' on the lip of one of my rims. Not bad..just wondering if I can touch it up in any way. What do I do?
