You can go through the car and remove all plastic panels. Take out the back seat and spare tire and trunk stuff. Then you can get racing seats. Or just one racing seat and take the other one out. Take out the airbags and get a different wheel. Take out the dashboard and custom mount the gauges you need. Take out the A/C and radio. Take off the power steering. Get light weight smaller rims. You can also get a carbon fiber or figerglass hood. Fiberglass hatch, fiberglass fenders, fiberglass bumper covers. Remove the metal bumper. You cn even go extreme and drill holes in all the metal pieces you can.

One thing you need to remember. WHEN you lighten your car drasticly (mine weighes in STOCK at 2975 lbs), you will affect your ride if you drive it daily. If you remove alot from the interior, it will be noisy and squeek alot. The less it weighs, the rougher it will ride on the street. SO, IF you are going to race alot, go for it, BUT If you drive the street with it most of the time, BE WARNED.

I think the CF Hood weighs 13-14 lbs depending on manufacturer. The stock hood weighs 40 lbs. Fiberglass is lighter.

There are hatchbacks here in tampa that are all motor stripped out and running low 12's. They drive them everyday on the road. The roads here in Tampa suck for lowered cars. I bent my lower front tie bar the first month I had it. I am only lowered 1.5 inches.

If you want to drive it around all stripped out you can but you will have to get used to the vibrations, echo from the exhaust, can't hear the GF talk to you and she gets pissed because you keep saying What? , Huh? . I want to strip mine out for race reasons but I can't because I start to hate not having subs in the back. I love listening to rock really loud and crusing like 100+ down the interstate!! }>

I think fiberglass and carbon fiber are comparable. The diffeences in weight are the 12-13lbs hood accept the factory latch and the 7-8lbs ones don't.
