Hi after days of depression knowing i have an awesome car but i cant even drive it because of my own stupidity of getting involved with the suspension when i didnt know what i was doing, finally the coilovers are installed.
Ok so you nkow how the stock springs touch the perch at the bottom AND the uppermount/cap thing at the top? Well my coilover springs dont. I mounted them by knocking off the perch and putting in the adjustable metal thing in its place. And its lowest setting. The springs sit on that. But the top of them arent near the upper mount/cap thing that connects to the body under the hood. not near it at all. of course when i drop the car off the jack they touch it, alot, it touches them deep and compresses them. they obviously couldnt come off. but are they supposed to somehow touch it while not being compressed?

You did it right. The spring should be able to move up and down when you have the car jacked up, since that allows you to have height adjustability. Like you said, when the car is on the ground, it will be compressed. But the spring has to hang loose in the air so you could raise it up and make it higher if you wanted...
