#3996, "Strut Bar rubbing"

My Ractive front strut bar is hitting the top of the throttle body. When I start up the car I can hear it hit, and also I can hear it vibrating on idle. I cant hear it when I'm driving because my intake and exhaust are too loud.
Did I do something wrong?
Anyone else have this problem?

Figures only I could screw up the simplest install.

Throttle Body? My STB doesn't come close to the TB, it goes over the oil cap. Do you have a picture or anything of your engine bay?

Ya it shouldn't go close to the throttle body. Maybe it's actually hitting the hood? A lot of strut bars will rub against the hood.

lol..

sorry, that was funny.

I'd say it's either the hood, or it's on backwards, there should be a bend in it, so it can be used for the gst or gs, if you have it on the wrong way, I'd imagine it would rub, but I thought it would only fit one way on our motor....

Ya I have a gs-t bar and installed it backwards so the Advanced Concepts sticker is upside down when you look at it. I don't think you can really mess up the strut bar install...just check for hood rubbing, and maybe pad your hood or the bar with something that is heat resistant and nonflammable.

You know what, now that you mention the bend in the bar I think I have had mine on wrong the whole time!!! :o :o :o

Mine used to have a decal on it and I installed it correctly with the decal so you could read it. It has always been really close to the battery but it fits in there. If the battery didn't have a rubber cap on the terminal the strut bar could arc if there was bare metal. I took the decal off so it doesn't matter how it looks but I should turn it around and I'll probably have much better clearance for battery! Man I feel dumb! Oh well I'll check tomorrow.

Well I double checked the install and the strut bar can only be mounted 1 way. It goes over the battery and slightly before the throttle body. I think maybe it is rubbing against the hood., but it is just so close to the throttle body.
makes me nervous. I'll try to put padding so hopefully I wont hear it rubbing anymore
