#33421, "Rear suspension problems"

I have eclipse GS. I have a problem, when i run over a small bump or a crack in the road, the car rear end shift a little bit. Its very unstable at the rear. Both rear wheels does it. Its a slight shift but very noticeable. I check all the rrear suspension for any loose or worn parts. This been happening for a while. I changed one the wheel bearings that was worn and one of the struts. That didnt fix the problem, so I took it to a local shop. they stated one of the rear bushing were worn but all the struts and shocks were good. I paid him 300 to fix one side of the rear wheel bushing. The car was stable for about 100 miles but same problem came back. My back tires are waring out too fast also. I just put some brand new tires on the back yesterday and want to get this problem solved, so i dont have to waste more money on tires. Someone please help. Im thinking its the alignment but i wanted to pick you'll brain before i end up wasting money on alignment

Thanks

You need to find a Tire Kingdom or Discount Tire. Something with a alignment plan.

It is transferable. But if everything checked out ok, it needs to be aligned.

You would be surprised what a alignment can do to how the drives.

Example: I paid $150 for 3yrs of unlimited alignments at Tire Kingdom.

Do us (and yourself) a favor and use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Your post makes my eyes bleed.

If you have not already, inspect every bushing and pivot point yourself instead of relying on a mechanic to do it for you. Next, as Tim mentioned, get an alignment so you can find out what is out of spec - toe or camber. That will be an indication of what has excessive play in it.

EDIT: I knew this sounded familiar. You have a handful of posts of over the last few months about rear tires wearing out, bushings, etc. Stop creating multiple posts for issues that are not resolved.

I dont know where all the bushings are located. How do you check if they are worn?

Anywhere there is a pivot point. Buy yourself a repair manual.

I posted with the same problem you have. My issue ( at least the main one) was the rear suspension cross-member (my car was previously rear ended). If you look at all pivot points and everything looks fine, double check the toe adjustment bolts. They tend to rust up and seize depending where you live. I've seen this issue with many buddies' cars up in Connecticut. Having one seized pivot point fighting the rest of the suspension's movement can make the car feel unstable.

Hopefully this points you in the right direction. Had mine fixed for a little over a month now, and I had to re-learn how to drive my car once it was all back together.

By the way, if your problem is not resolved, like CODE4 said, don't start new posts. Just keep the original going. That way, if someone uses the search function, no multiple posts for the same issue from the same person will show up. Help keep everything simple and organized. Not trying to be a dick, just offering some sound advise.
I'm one of those guys that uses Search alot.
