I have a major rust problem on my 98 eclipse gs, with 103k miles. The rust is located next to the engine bay area, next to the battery, connects the struts and control arms. It squeaks when I go over bumps on the road. I don't want the control arm and wheel to come off when I'm driving on the highway. What can I do about this rust part of the car? What is the part I need called? Where can I go to get it fixed correctly? My mechanic couldn't find the piece he needs. Can I cut the same piece off of another eclipse and weld it on mines? I'm in Chicago, IL, if anyone who can help me fix this, I would compensate them of course. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Thats almost as bad as my ESI I crushed. take a look http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=6&topic_id=31050&mode=full they called me rusty. I crushed it when I got a 97 GS for 400 bucks with less wrong with it. A body guy was gonna cut out my strut tower and replace it with a fresh one. I hear arizona is a good place to look for strut towers. You are going to need a good body shop that can cut it out and replace it. You can no longer buy the strut tower through the dealer you have to find a junk car that has a rust free tower.

thats through chrysler you genius. anything available from chrysler is available through the dealership. Either your uncle didnt look the paret up correctly or the dealership just doesnt want to try to order the correct part.
When you order from Chry parts direct (I have many times).....the return address is from a dealership in atlanta and when you need to correct the part shipped to yuo because its the wrong one, the number you call is directly to a parts counter in Atlanta. So tell me, how is that part not availabe from the dealership?
