i took my suspension off to put on my new axles and like a tard i managed to puncture 4 of my ball joint boots. both lower and both compression.. so i was searchin and some say i can get the boot at the stealership, then some dont recommend repairng the boot at all and just getting new arms.the boots are sliced open so i dont think much if any contamination got in (since the car hasnt been moved). so am i "safe" if i get the new boots at the dealer and repack with fresh grease? has ne 1 done this with good results or am i wasting time?

If all you did was tear the boots while you were taking things apart you are probably ok. I would check the ball joints to make sure they aren't too terribly worn before I start looking for new boots.

Here's what you have to do:

1. Put wheel on
2. Jack up the side of the car with the wheel on
3. Grab lower part of wheel and jiggle it
4. If there is play, replace the whole ball joint, if not replace the boot.
5. Likewise, if you want to see if you have other promblems, jiggle the top of the wheel and if there is play, replace wheel bearings.
6. Grab sides and move back and forth, if and clunking or some play in the tie-rod-ends replace them.

Also, you can rebuild the entire front suspension for about $900 buying name brand parts online or at your local parts store.
