I though I remember some of the early 2gnt's had vented rotors or something like this? Can anyone verify this?

I have a set of stockers that I pulled off an early 95 that are solid as well. A 95 GST on the other hand has vented rear brakes.

nope, all rear discs on 2g's were solid rotors from the factory, part # is exactly the same for gs, gst, gsx. some of the aftermarket big brake kits go up to a vented rotor but unless you're running a massive pig of a stereo and obnoxiously oversized chrome dipped overweight rims with R-compound tires you shouldn't need anything more than some factory sized high performance rotors and high performance pads. the rears don't do that much to require vented rotors

Yeah I was just wondering because I thought I heard that somewhere but when I looked at my rear brakes, they were solid. My build date is Aug of 94.

Interesting. I have a buddy that owns a GST and he recently told me they were vented stock. I'll have to go sneak a peak at his car and see if he was right/wrong.

PS-His car has been down for almost 18 months now. So it's been a while since he's seen it.

If you read through the '95 factory manual, you will see references to large diameter and thick rotors on the rear of the AWD cars. They are thick enough to be vented. The front/rear brake fluid pressure was also different for this specific model (indicating some hard parts are different). If you search really hard through brake rotor manufacturer web sites, you will find rotors listed for the early build date '95 AWD with similar dimensions to what the manual states. The pictures show them as vented, for what that is worth. I spent some time researching this last month as part of a possible brake upgrade. I gave up before I was able to confirm if the spindles and calipers are different. I figured that I better focus on getting my car running before I worry about stopping it.

ok, just checked with my friend over at the mitsu dealer parts dept down the street, apparently just about everything pre 95 build had different rear rotors and drums, they could be vented on the AWD because they had a different part# but he didn't have any in stock to look and see for sure, but the others were all solid.

My buddies 95 AWD Talon has vented rotors.......could be a good upgrade but the only place to get the rotors for them are satan because there is a very select number of 2g's that have them.......and they cost a hell of alot.

it must be a pre-95 built car. anything with a build date of 12/94 or earlier is all sorts of screwy. my RS is a pre-95 build and the only place I could get the right parts for the rear brakes was from satan, everyone else looked at me funny when I told them the parts were wrong.
