I'm looking to upgrade my suspension since it looks like my car will finally see the street again in the next few weeks. My gr2/sportline setup was done on a budget and I dont have horrible things to say about the combo although I know its not the best available. I'm looking for something that will put my car at 1.5" or higher. The sportlines are simply too low for my tastes now. I've done lots of reading and it seems that most of you guys LOVE the Tein setups, i'd be looking at the Basic Damper setup to stay in my price range. I called a vendor for pricing and was referred to the Megan Racing Coilover setup as an alternative. The kit looks nicely made, and is much more adjustable that the Tein for a little more money. I dont know that I need this much adjustment though. My car isnt autocrossed, will never see a road course, and gets little duty on the drag strip. I originally was looking to get a lowering spring with a set of Illuminas. Tokico makes a strut that has Illuminas with their own brand of spring but I haven't been able to turn up much data on this combo. I was mainly looking for something that will take some aggressive driving on the street and prevent my car from rolling like a canoe. I would like an adjustable shock to that when I do head to the track I can stiffen up the rear.

I have the tokico springs and illumina struts. Kick ass combo for daily and autocross. I had the nonadjustable blue struts with tokico springs since 1998 and never had a problem. With the new build I kept the springs and went with the adjustable struts. I autocrossed the nonadjustable struts for years and did other things to help with understeer. When I got my tokico springs, they were the first set ever released to the public.

Another good choice is Koni yellow adjustable struts with eibach springs.

There are much better choices than Tein if you want to spend that amount of money. Revalved Koni yellows with custom spring rate eibach springs are a better autocross/road racing combo. If you want a full coil over, then prepare to spend $1500+ for something decent and it's only marginally better than the revalved Koni struts.

I auto cross / daily drive with the tociko blue package, I regret not buying a Tien coil over setup because the height my springs settled at just isn't low enough for me, what im saying is the nice thing about the coil overs is the height adjustably, so if you were looking for a raised look you could achieve that, but if you need to lower it you can. The blues work good in conjunction with my bushing package, and STB's, but to each his own
