#29649, "Stock pring compression - can't compress enough."

Hello,
Well I’ve now gotten both my front stock assemblies off, but I can't seem to get the stock springs compressed enough to get the spring short enough for the top plate got allow the nut the thread on. I actually got one of the stabilizer links to come off without a problem. This was on the passenger side; you pretty much have to take this one off to get to the bolt that holds the shock on the fork.

I could use advice on were to place the spring compressors on the spring. It seems that I can't get enough compression our of them, but when I move them further apart I have trouble with them slipping and it seems rather dangerous. I had this slipping happen a few times and I think that was due to my location of the clamps.

Thanks,
Ryan
