Hmmm...I personally havent hear of it on a 2gnt, but I know on neons.org, a lot of them do it. I know they have factory made ones though. I would think, if it a race car, that you could possibly use one from another car and fab it a little to make it work.

I believe most just remove the power steering pump and loop the lines and make it a closed type system

well i would just loop the steering rack but i'd really like to have the manual steering rack since the power rack with no power is a big pain in my a$$ to turn. maybe i'll hunt down a electric pump or something

and do what? run it off that? That would still put an increased load on your alternator. That would make it harder for your engine to turn.

now if you will only use it to drag, you could use the battery.

I remember a post on dsmtuners about a 1G manual rack working, but I have no idea if the poster was just talking out his ass or not, might be worth a search over there tho.

i'll look up the spec on the 1g manual rack and see what i can get. as for the elictric pump, they don't pull much off the electrical system so i'm not worried about the amount of drag on my altinator plus this car will see the street so i want to be able to go through traffic like i do now, which is rather quick.

I dont know maybe its just me, but if it is a street car...I dont see that the PS pump takes that much drag. Do you think it will really make a difference in how fast your car is?? I dont think it will matter, if it is not a drag car then just hook it back up and save yourself the trouble. Plus if your drag racing you are not turning much anyways, so when you are not turning the pump doesnt have much drag.

i agree with what you say, but i prolly going to have issues with clearance of the ps pump, do to the fact of,for a short while i will be running the srt4 manifold and turbo. so thats why i would like the manual steering rack, not for weight or engine drag reasons
