#28726, "Went to stock: TO HIGH?"

Ok so My buddy has an eclipse thats on stock suspension. Mine is on stock suspension now since I raised it back up this past week. Well his car has the same rims as mine both are 17s. His tire space from tire to fender is not as much as mine, mine looks like its got a 2 inch LIFT kit. Im thinking its where the shaft for the strut clamps into the damerfork is where I messed up, maybe I didnt slide it down in far enough. I used the big springs on the front and smaller ons on the back. I kno everything else is rite, and the back looks fine. Any suggestions on this? Thanks!

Thanks, Brandon

your rims are the same, but are the tires the same size? i remember when i had coilovers and switched back to stock; it looked like my car had a lift, since i was so used to seeing it lowered.

No, it is def. HIGHER than his. Same tire size also. Like I said, I think its the shaft of the strut is not in as far on the damer fork. Or could it be that the nut on the top of the spring/strut is not down as far as his?

Thanks, Brandon

Whats that mean? And usually around how long does it take. They were sitting on a shelf on no struts for awhile. But again could it be that the bolt on top of the spring was not as tight as his? I doubt that is it but is it possible?

Thanks, Brandon

It is possible that your springs need to settle again. I don't imagine that it would take more than a week of normal driving for them to re-settle.
Also, it's possible that his springs have more wear and tear on them causing them to sag...leaving his car sitting lower.

Its been about a week now. Looks a little high still. I think his shocks are worn actually because when me and him were passing a tractor and trialer, when he floored it, the whole rear end squatted. So im not sure, havent looked yet, but today when I get home from school I will check my strut shafts in the damper fork and see if it is in there right.

Thanks, Brandon

Yah, I have a stock 97 GS with stock sized tires etc, and it seems to ride higher than I ever imagined, and higher than most others that I see driving around.

I am puzzled.
