They reserve that right to refuse service to a modified vehicle under their recall notices. I had my replaced at no charge but of course I didn't change anything under there from stock. But they can refuse to service your vehicle if they wanted to be asses.

I just dropped off my Talon at the Chyrsler dealership for the recall. It didn't seem to be a problem with them-besides, our argument would be that our ball joints and CV boots weren't modded.

Yeah I go Weds Morning and I am sorta worried about the same thing.. though it's a recall.. i mean the parts would of been bad if they were modded or not..

they are supposed to cover recalls REGARDLESS of modifications, unless of course you took apart the ball joint. They can not compromise the safety of a car because of defective parts regardless if you put different springs or shocks on your car.

Todd is right. I think they would think 3 times before they refused to fix a SAFETY RECALL. The lawsuits would flow if someone had problems with the vehicle AFTER they were refused the fix. Warranty work is a different thing. They can get by with that.
GOOD LUCK

A dealer can refuse to replace the ball joints if you have modded the ball joints or replaced them with after markets ones. Because the stock ball joints MAY have been good and the recall was to check and replace IF nessasary.

IF you HAD to replace the ball joints because they were bad, you CAN be reimbursed by DaimlerChrysler for it. Just get in touch with them, WITH your receipts. That is , if you had the Talon. I imagine that Mitsu has the same setup.

Think of it this way, what's the difference between going to midas and getting new shocks and springs, and putting your own on....nothing, they are both aftermarket, as far as ride height, I'll put my grandma(forgive me for saying this) in the car and I'll show ya a 3"drop on stock springs. swaybars...I dare a mechanic or dealership to say that something that stiffens up a suspension is going to destroy a ball joint over a loose or broken sway bar that offers no support. camberkit....your saving your tires and suspension...how can they critisize that. energy suspension bushings...well I had all the bushings in my car replaced with these and just had the ball joint recall last week and they didn't say a word.

I suppose the only real way they could refuse is if you do something to compromise the safety of the vehicle, in which case you'd be a moron for doing so.
