i cannot figure out whats making the clunk sound in my car . it sounds louder sometimes . expecially if i turn hard and acellerate or reverse. but mostly when i just start to go front whether its fast or slow. i do not think its the motor mounts cause they are not cracked at all and i cannot pull or push the motor if i try to . i let someone kinda pop the clutch and i looked at motor and it seems to not move hardly at all . but just incase i oredered full insert kit for all mounts. ive also replaced the sway bar links and shocks and springs and i still hear it. i have no power steering so its hard enough to turn and when i do turn all the way ,either way and pull out i always hear this clunk. i hear it if i hit a bump hard sometimes too but not as bad. it sounds like a ball joint issue to me but they all look fine, not popped or anything and i try to pull around parts with my hands to see if they move but nothing does. all bolts are tight too. what could this be?

91 civic hatch, homemade turbo+ LS motor = 12 sec street car.

Loose lugnuts, bad strutmount, bad ball joint, hub, axle, control arm bushings, loose caliper, loose crossmember. I'm sure there are things I missed to. Jack up the car under the unibody rail and shake down the suspension. use a prybar the pry up on the wheel or shake it with your hands at 12 and 6 and 3 and 9. There is obviously a worn or loose suspension component, and don't forget to check your lugnuts.

if i had to take a stab at it i'd say cv axles, just something to look into. that clunking is what sounds like what we ran into a few times when i worked at this shop that turned out to be cv axles that had been well past their prime

Any idea/thoughts on which direction it's coming from?
