check out www.roadraceengineering.com. They have some, should be the same regardless of motor. Not the prettiest bar, but very functional, and it doesn't cover my oil cap. 4g63 may be different though.

i didnt understand the ending of your post is your a 4g63? cause there is a big differance between the 4g63 and the 420a, i have the 420a non turbo i know most of these strut bars were designed for the 4g63 and thats why they cover our 420a oil cap. sorry if i misunderstood what you were saying but if you have a 4g63 than it should definatly not cover your cap cause its not in the same place as in the 420a

Yeah, I think that Dan knows the difference between a 420a and a 4G63.

It is certainly possible to get the oil cap out from under the shock tower bar. Even if you can't, it's only one bolt to pull one side out...

Besides, all of the shock tower bars that are out there (RRE's bar somewhat excepted) really suck the big one. Notice how close the shock towers are to the firewall? It will be hard to brace that any better than did the original engineers at MMMA.

I would make something custom, though, and at least try to make something somewhat structural.

I bought one on ebay back in the day that doesnt cover the oilcap. it was only like 20 bucks or something. It looks like the one that covers it but its designed a little different.
Heres a pic:

It does cover the negative pole on the battery though but thats no big deal to me. I painted the mounting brackets that color blue though they were a dark navy blue stock.

The bar Gorko posted is a WeaponR. Very nice, but not as stiff as an RRE bar, perfect fit although may need to drill one hole for the battery tiedown depending on year.

Here's the same WeaponR bar, but installed UPSIDE DOWN, blocking the oil cap:

Na, mine isnt that bar. There is only one way that my bar fits on my car. I cant turn it upside down like that other one. I just got lucky on ebay and picked a good one. I'll try and get you a better pic. In the auctions you can see the bracket are a little bit different. The bracket doesnt have to be drilled or anything. Like I said it only fits on there the way I have it. I'll try to find another on ebay and link ya.

Could you post a closeup of the bracket that mounts it to the top of the shock tower?

I just want to see if they actually designed any stiffness into the bar.

if you are looking for a really good bar, go to RRE posted above. Their bar is not pretty, but it is a solid bar that bolts to one bolt on each side. Definitely ties the two strut towers firmly together, no need for the ring around the tower.

Mine looks just like this:

but the battery tie down cut out is where it is supposed to be. It only fits that one way too no way to turn it to make it fit any other. I dont have any more pics of mine but I can take some pics if anyone would like

I know this is an old thread, but misinformation is a bitch and there's alot of it here...possibly...

The "should be the same regardless of motor" clause does not apply here.

The RRE front strut tower bar will NOT NOT NOT fit on a 1998 2gnt (from my experience).

I called RRE when I ordered the bar and they told me it would fit on my car. It did not fit. It is made for the turbo. RRE acted very hassled when I tried to return the product as well.
