#27666, "How the @*#&! do you install upper arm boots!!"

Finally got my 4 suspension boots after satan sent 2 of them to the other side of the country. Got the 2 lower arm boots on no problem. Put the tie rod boot on not too much time spent there either.

But the goddamn upper arm boot wouldn't f'n go on at ALL! The f'n boot ripped & now I've got to wait at least another damn week before I can do anything! Is there some sort of tool to get those metal rings to slide around the joints? I got the other three on by turning the damper fork upside down. Worked great! Few hits on either side & bam... done.

I even took the a-arm off the car so I could work on it better. The boot kept sliding around the base of the joint. Then it started to bend the ring from trying to hit it on by using the fork. The other 3 at least would start to go on, and then I could just tap it into place. This thing wouldn't even start!

Just curious if there's something out there to aid in the install.

Sorry to vent. This damn CV boot replacement's only taken me 3 weeks to do!

There is a dust boot installation tool. I've never used one, I've always just beat them on w/ a large enough socket. I'd imagine though if you bent the ring just slightly it wouldn't go in at all. Are you sure it's the same size as the lowers?
