#27192, "Quick thoughts on struts to buy"

Okay well I was doing some research on lowering my car and I guess lowering it around 1.5in. will pretty much make your sturts go to crap very quickly. So I have 1.5in. drop Eibach Pro Kit Springs and I have not installed them yet so I figure I will wait to buy struts/shocks before I install anything. I was just wondering on which Struts/shocks you guys would recomend with these springs. Also where I can get struts the cheapest. (besides Ebay) Thanks in advance.

I've heard mixed opinions on KYB's. Tokico Illimina's seem to be a popular choice, not sure with those springs though. Haven't mess around with different suspension brands so I'm just throwing shit out lol.

I know you can get KYB's at you local auto parts store. And the thing I've learned about Ebay is if you buy from a dealer there, you should be fine, it's the individual's that you should watch out for.

I had Prokits and Tokico Blues (Sports) on my 2G when I had it. The ride was pretty comfortable and with a good set of tires, handling was awesome.

Okay a couple more questions. When you guys say Tokico Blues do you mean the Tokico HP's?
Like these ones http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7975072178&category=33590

Also in that auction it doesn't specify if they're for a turbo or non-turbo. So I'm assuming that means that the suspension is the same as long as it is 2WD/FWD correct?

Thanks again for the help guys.

I've got my set of Tokico HP's(blues) sitting at home in box. There is a difference between AWD versus FWD. The AWD and FWD share the same fronts (HU3532), but the rears are different (HU3533).

Here are the corresponding part numbers for the front and rear's for the FWD model.

HU3532 - Front
HU3534 - Rear

The blues are the ones that aren't 5-way adjustable. I spent a grip of time trying to get some coilovers work with my set-up about 5 years ago when I lowered my car. I ended up having to go with the Koni adjustables (yellow) to try to get coilovers to work. The best set-up I found back then (not necesarily the best now) was the Koni adjustables with the ground control coilovers. The GC coilovers required the shocks not to have spring perches on them. The Koni adjustables have removable perches, meaning you can take them off.

I also tried doing it myself, I'm a retard and was young then and couldn't figure it out. Now I'm smart, after watching the guy do it about 5 years ago, it's easy as hell. The only tough part is he had to bore out the whole on the little plate on my car so the shock would fit in it. The overall job is pretty easy, pick up a chilton's or pm me and I'll tell you how to do it.

Good luck

I would highly recommend the Blues, they rock. They are not too hard and not too soft. They seemed to really hit the nail on the head with the right damper rate. I thought alot about Illumina's but i came to the conclusion how often are you REALLY gonna change your shocks. I mean you have to open ur trunk pull off the covers then change them.. then open ur hood then do the same. The blues have been compared to the 4th setting on the illuminas. If your really into auto-x i'd get the adj. but otherwise the blues are great. BTW Pro-kits are the shizzle.. haha.

I have the Sportline kit on my car with the Illumina struts and it seems to be a really good spring/strut combo.
